To Hear Leeper
Dr. Robert W. Leeper, associate
professor of psychology, will speak
before the men’s professional jour
nalism fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi,
today at 4 p.m. in room 105 journal
ism building.
He is the first of a series of
speakers who will be invited to talk
at coming meetings. The purpose of
the talks is to promote greater mu
tual understanding and coopera
tion between journalism and other
professional fields.
Dr. Leeper will speak on the re
lation between psychology and jour
nalism. He has received in advance
some questions which members
wish to have answered, and will lead
discussions along these lines.
“No doubt other questions will
arise during the talk as psychology
in journalism is becoming an in
creasingly pertinent subject for
journalists,” Dr. Leeper said Wed
nesday.

Hits Air Today
Three student-produced pro
grams released through radio sta
tion KOAC in Corvallis from stu
dios located on the University
campus will be aired today from 4
to 5 p. m. with an all-student par
ticipation.
A half-hour psychological
drama opens the hour under the
direction of Lloyd Domaschofslty,
sophomore in liberal arts. The
play is an adaptation of Wilbur
Daniel Steele’s “Luck” and tells
the story of a suicide. Featured
in the cast are Keith Cockburn,
freshman in liberal arts, Dick
Rayburn, freshman in journalism,
Helen Nelson, sophomore in busi
ness administration, Ed Lyons,
John H. MacDonald, junior in law,
Marie DiLoreto, sophomore in
liberal arts, and Harry White,
sophomore in liberal arts.
Dr. Kenneth Scott Wood, as
sistant professor of speech and
drama, and director of the Uni
versity Speech Correction and
Hearing clinic will be interviewed
during the fifteen-minute Campus
Interviews program by producer
Shirley Peters, junior in journal
ism, concerning the work done by
the clinic in aiding persons who
have speech defects and impedi
ments.
The 4:45 to 5:00 spot will be
filled by a popular music program
produced by John Tasnady, sopho
more in journalism, and featuring
Bob Weber, freshman in journal
ism who will present a program
of “piano populars” including
Twilight Time and Begin the Be
guine as well as an original Weber
Boogie and his own interpreta
tion of Rhapsody in Blue. An
nouncing will be Dick Shelton,
junior in journalism.
H. G. Leach to Lecture
On Nordic Democracy
Henry Goddard Leach, president
of the America n-Scandinavian
foundation, will give his second
lecture at the University tonight
when he speaks on “Scandinavian
versus American Democracy” at
7:30 p. m. in 207 Chapman hall.
Dr. Leach spent the spring of
1946 studying the revival of the
democratic institutions of the
Scandinavian countries after the
war.

YMCA to Organize
Table Tennis Meet
An interhouse table tennis tour
ney, sponsored by the University
YMCA is now registering- contest
ants from living organizations, ac
cording to James Chan, who is or
ganizing the tourney.
Each living organization on the
campus will be limited to two con
testants who will vie for house pos
session of a 24-inch gold cup to be
presented the final winner, Chan
said. Entrants will be charged a 25
cent entrance fee.
Dates for the playoffs of semi
finals and final matches will be an
nounced later. No dates will be set
for preliminary matches.
A second tourney for students
living off campus will be sponsored
at the same time. Registrations for
this contest are being handled at
the YMCA building.
