—The undefeated University of
Washington swimming team Fri
day swept all first places and set a
new pool record in trouncing the
University of Idaho, 59 to 16.

Clipped a full two seconds from the
set here in a 1943 duel meet as he
covered the distance in 54.2
seconds.
It was Washington's third
straight conference victory. The
Huskies meet Washington State,
also undefeated, in Pullman to
day.

Local Office Aids Vets
To Gain Subsistences
All veteran trainees enrolled at
the University who have not re
ceived their January 1947 subsist
ence allowance checks, are informed
that the local Veterans Adminis
tration office on the campus is
available and ready to assist them
in receiving their subsistence al
lowance within the earliest possible
time.
Any veteran who has not received
his January 1947 subsistence al
lowance, should contact Philip
Lynch, contact representative, Vet

physical education building.
New Kiln Purchased
A new kiln for ceramics has
been purchased by the University,
according to Dean Sydney W.
Little of the school of allied art
and architecture.
The new kiln will be fired by
butane, giving a higher tempera
ture range and a larger capacity
for drying ceramics, the dean ex
plained.

Dr. Harris to Speak
Race relations day will be ob
served Sunday at the Fairmount
Fresbyterian church, East Fifteenth
street and Villard, when Dr. Joseph
Harris of the Westminster founda
tion speaks on “Lincoln’s Relig
ion.”
There will be special music by
the choir under the direction of
Mary Nash, freshman in music.

Miss Brown has chosen Carolin
