Mu Phi Sorority Sponsors Benefit A bridge benefit, sponsored by Nu chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, na tional women’s professional music sorority, will be held Friday after noon from 2 to 4 at the Alpha Gam ma Delta and Kappa Kappa Gam ma houses. The benefit is planned to aid the chapter’s project, the purchase of opera scores for the music school li brary of recordings and scores in the Carnegie room. The proceeds of a similar bridge benefit last year were used for the purchase of 13 bound scores. Mu Phi Epsilon’s national pro ject, called “Music in Hospitals” will also receive some help through the proceeds of this benefit. This project is for the advancement of the new field of musical therapy. Jean Girts, senior in business ad ministration, will serve as general chairman for the benefit and her committee chairmen consist of Lena Lou Pope, programs and tal lies; Lois Roeder, tickets; Mary Louise Stone, entertainment; Eliza beth Pollock, social; Jerine New house, publicity; and Marie Peery, arrangements. Contract bridge and pinochle ta bles will both be arranged. Prizes are being donated by the Mu Phi Epsilon patroness association. Stu dents may obtain reservations of tables or tickets by phoning Lois Roeder at 2840. The price will be 60 cents per person, $2.40 per table. Air Forces Offer Meterolog Training The army air forces has approved and established a program for train ing weather officers at Civilian universities. Former officers who are qualified for this training may request recall to active duty for the purpose of attending courses at the University of Chicago, Massachu setts Institute of Technology, New; York university, California Insti-; tute of Technology, and the Univer sity of California at Los Angeles. Classes will begin at these schools for the mid-term semesters with ad ditional quotas for summer and fall semesters planned. Reserve officers in the grade of major and below who have com pleted at least three years of college work including mathematics through integral calculus and one year of college physics and who are physically and otherwise qualified, are eligible for recall to active duty for weather officer training. Reserve officers of the other arms and services will be trans ferred to the air reserve upon ac ceptance of recall to active duty for weather officer training. Individuals who successfully com plete the prescribed oourse of weath er officer training at these civilian schools will serve on active duty-as weather officers with the air weath er service of the AAF.
