Survives Ship Disaster

Statue Renews Hope
Before leaving Greece for the
University of Oregon, Eid was
able to tour Athens. He arrived
here in time to occupy a room in
the newly- completed veterans’
dormitory. Putting down Egyp
tian and American newspapers, he
donned a red fez for his Emerald
visitor and remarked that when
he first saw the Statue of Liberty,
he renewed hopes that the United
States might help Egypt reach
