Scholarships Open In Graduate Work Eight scholarships in medical so cial work of $1000 each are open to Lutheran students who are gradu ates of art accredited college, or will graduate from such a college by June 30, 1947. In addition the candidate must have completed the college courses required for admis sion by the school of social work which he plans to enter. The holder of any one of these scholarships who makes a good rec ord during 1947-48 may have the scholarship renewed for a second year. The scholarships are being of fered by the Wheat Ridge founda tion of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. They will walk out to the Cully home in College Crest where they will have a Pancake supper. Arizona Ores Received A collection of the different minerals and ores of Arizona was sent to the geology department recently by Dr. Charles Reed, an alumnus of the University. Dr. Reed, who is now an instruc tor in zoology at the University of Arizona, took several geology courses while at Oregon, Dr. W. D. Smith, head of geography and geology department, said Wednes day. The drafting rooms were slated for a repaint job during Christmas vacation, but the men with the paint brushes were still brushing this wreek. Consequently, while painters slapped paint on one sec tion, students huddled in alternate corners. Also in on the art school's face lifting program were the library, which received new lighting fix tures, and Dean Little’s office which was enlarged. Llewellyn O. Griffith will act as moderator. Artists Receive Grants Three students nave been award ed Pennell scholarships which is a tuition grant to further interest in art. Named as receivers of the award by the office of Sydney W. Little, dean of the school of archi tecture and allied arts, are James McCllntock, sophomore in drawing and painting; Marjorie Johnson, senior in interior designing; and Beverly Hopkins, senior in draw ing and painting.
