UO Alums in Islands Plan January Reunion A reunion in Honolulu of Univer sity of Oregon alumni will be held in the islands some time between January 16 and 31, it was reported by Lester E. Anderson, alumni di rector. - Ernest Haycox, prominent Port land author and president of the University Alumni association, is expected to be vacationing in Ha waii at that time. Chairman of the event will be Harold Lundburg, 1926 graduate. Promotion will be managed by Buck Buckwach, ’42, who is now military editor of the Holulu Advertiser. Anderson stated that Oregon alums in the Honolulu area num bered about 112, all of whom are ex pected at the get-together. Term Enrollment Down In English Department The number of students regis tered in the English department for winter term has decreased since fall term registration. In freshman composition courses the number of students has de creased from a fall term high, an average of 27 students per class, to a winter term average of 24 stu dents per class. The new number greatly lessens the teaching load per instructor this term, thus each student will receive more individ ual attention. Gage, associate professor of business administration in the University of Oregon, appeared in the December issue of Western Ad vertiser, a monthly business maga zine of the 11 western states. His article, entitled “Kicking P. R. Around,” expressed the idea that criticism of the public rela tions business comes largely from confusion between the people who use and the people who are used by public relations. Professor Gage is now conduct ing the University’s new course, business public relations. Mrs. Wickham Leaves For Guidance Meeting Mrs. Golda Wickham, dean of wo men, will attend a meeting of the Oregon State guidance commission to be held in Portland Saturday. As representative of the University of Oregon, Mrs. Wickham meets with the committee of Oregon educators to outline a system of guidance for all secondary schools in the state. Petitions Due Saturday petitions for committee heads and workers for the Internation al Festival must be turned in at the YWCA or to Bjorg Hansen at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house on or before Saturday.
