Once again the Thanksgiving season is upon us and all
churches throughout the city of Eugene, Sunday, will be bound
together in one common thought; that of giving thanks to God
in honor of this national holiday. The individual services to
be held at each denomination are as follows:

“Let Us Give Thanks’’ is the
topic of the sermon to be delivered
by Rev. Wesley G. Nicholson at the
First Congregational church, 490
East 13th street, during the 11 a.
m. services. Music for the morn
: ing worship will be a soprano solo,
: “Praise To The Lord,” by Mrs.
lone Lewis, and the choir singing
“Prayer of Thanksgiving.” Presi
dent Newburn will be guest speak
er at the student supper at 6:00
p. m., speaking on the “Future of
the University.”
St. Mary's Catholic
Masses in St. Mary’s Catholic
church, 1062 Charnelton are at
6:30, 7:15, 8:30, 9:45 and' 11 a. m.
Rosary and benediction is at 4
p. m. with Father Leipzig officiat
ing.
Baptist
Dr. Vance Wester’s topic for the
morning worship at 11 a. m. at the
p First Baptist church, Broadway
and High, “The Mercies of God.”
The anthem to be sung by the
choir is “Prayer of Thanksgiving.’-’
Also during the morning worship,
dedication of babies and parents
will be held. “The Night Is Far
Spent” will be the subject for the
sermon to be delivered at the 7:30
p. m. evening service. Baptismal
service will be held and' the choir
will sing “Now Thank We All.”
• Episcopal
St. Mary’s Episcopal church
13th and Pearl> holds its morning
prayer service at 11 a. m. with
Rev. E. S. Bartlam delivering the
sermon. The Canterbury discus
sion and refreshment meeting will
be held at 5:30 p. m.
Christian
The First Christian church, 116
Oak street, offers the regular Uni
versity class at 9:45 a. m., in
structed by Dean Victor P. Morris,
followed by the morning worship at
11 a. m. with Rev. Hugh N. Mc
Callum delivering the sermon en
titled, “A Call To Thanksgiving.”
Special music for the service will
be a soprano solo, ‘‘Bless Thou O
God This Day,” sung by Patricia
McCoy Hayes.
‘‘Nice People” will be the subject
of the sermon to be delivered at
the 7:30 evening services, and Hal
Young, tenor will sing ‘‘God So
Loved the World.” The choir’s an
them will be “Heavenly Father,”
featuring the voices of Miss Hayes
and Mr. Young. Town and Cam
pus group will meet at 5:00 for a
coffee hour followed by the regular
meeting at 6:00.
Methodist
“Thanksgiving Four Our Heri
tage” is the topic of the sermon to
be delivered by Rev. L. O. Griffith
at the First Methodist church, 1165
Willamette street, during the 11
a. m. services. Special music will
be sung by the choir and Eleanor
Culver will present a soprano solo.
Faix'mount Presbyterian
Rev. Joseph R. Harris has select
ed for his sermon topic, “Where
There Can Be No Substitute,” to
be delivered during the morning
worship at 11 a. m. at the Fair
mount Presbyterian church, E.
15th and Villard Blvd. Special
music by the choir will be under
the direction of Miss Mary Nash.
“Pigging” is regarded as an orig
inal Oregon expression.
There are still cockroaches in the
journalism building.
Wesley Slates Supper
Wesley house is sponsoring a!
Thanksgiving supper Sunday eve
ning at 7:30 at the First Methodist
church for all students interested.
The theme of the meeting will be
“Giving Thanks to God" under the
direction of the Wesley Players and
the Wesley Choral group.
