    Rose Bowl Patrons
Protest Army Oust
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21.—
(AP)—Ernest Newquist anti his
532 friends, who yesterday sent
a blistering telegram to Coast
Conference officials, wired an ap
peal today to Big Nine authori
ties to “Reconsider your action
and let us have Array.”
Newquist said 300-word tele
grams had been sent to Big Nine
Commissioner K. L. Wilson and
athletic directors at Illinois and
Michigan, vehemently protesting
“The bumping of the greatest
team in the nation.”
The message was signed: “563
disgusted but hopeful patrons of
the Rose Bowl who do not want to
turn tickets into pickets.”
The law school steps are made to
stand on . . . and stare from.

The following men should check
with the VA in the physical educa
tion building as soon as possible:
Louis K. Busch, Ralph Rensink,
Donald A. Simpson, and Thomas K.
D. Brown.
There is a letter for Stewart T.
Saussen at the University veterans
office in the basement of Johnson
hall.
All women veterans, duly regis
tered under the G.I. Bill, who are
contemplating withdrawing from
their course major, dropping one
course, or withdrawing front school
entirely, should report to the vet
eran adviser, Glenn Sweeny, in the
basement of Johnson hall. Some
have failed to do this and they jeop
ardize any further training under
the G. I. Bill.
Government checks are generally |
mailed from the Portland office on
the last day of the month. With this
in mind, veterans can begin eating
again on or about the second of De
cember.
Veterans who have been expe
riencing difficulty in receiving sub
sistence checks from the VA may
get loans or relief from the Red
Cross while awaiting their benefit
checks. A suggestion is made that
veterans contact Mr. Hall and re
ceive a statement which may be
taken to the Red Cross for authori
zation. The Red Cross office is at
43 W. 8th street, phone 63.

Kay, introduced by Yell King
Tom Hazzard, first spoke on the
traditions of the Oregon-OSC game
and introduced assistant football
coaches Ben Winkleman, Dick
Reed, and Vaughn Corley.
The rally squad, with Hazzard,
led a few yells and the Oregon
band played the OSC rooting song.’
To practice for the game, the
Pledge Song was sung without the
band. The OSC rally squad also
led a few of their yells.
A quartet, featuring Don Ed
wards, Norm Lamb, Bob Moran,
and Norm Henwood sang new
words to the tune of “Sweet Sue,”
written especially for the Oregon
OSC competition. “Swing Low,
Sweet Chariot” and “There’s No
One But You” were also sung.
