Houses Urged to Collect Homecoming Blaze Fodder George Alexander, head of the Homecoming bonfire com mittee, urged Friday that all living organizations cooperate today in beginning the collection of material for the “Home for Home coming blaze. The bonfire will be on 19th street between Ferry and Mill. Girls houses should contact one of the following men repre Banner Promises Flash of Color With a huge green “Oregon” em blazoned on its golden background, the new rally squad banner will make its debut over the Oregon rooting section at the Oregon-Mon tana football game in Hayward field this afternoon, according to Bob Heestand rally squad publicity chairman. Heestand expressed hope that the flag would become as much a part of Oregon football tradition as is the ringing of the victory bell. The banner, measuring 7 by 20 feet, was made by Sandy Pierce and financed by the rally squad. House pres idents favored the idea. Speakers Plan Busy Schedule Plans for the year's activities of the Inter-collegiate Forensic asso ciation of Oregon were outlined Wednesday by Mr. K. E. Montgom ery. assistant director of speech and arts. Plans include a practice meet at Oregon State college on November 9 for those interested in extempore and impromptu speaking. Represen tatives from the University, OSC, Pacific university, Pacific college, Linfield college, Portland university and Lewis and Clark college will be present at the institute. During the week of December 13 at Pacific university two of the group will attend the state extem pore speaking contest which offers prizes in both men’s and women’s divisions. Scheduled for the week of Febru ary 14 on the campus is the state peace oratorical contest. The sub ject will be “World Peace” and prizes will be offered. One repre sentative in IAFO will attend. Climaxing the scheduled events is the state old line oratorical con test the week of Match 7 at Oregon State. Two contestants from the University will be entered, one each in men’s and women’s divisions. Students interested in this type of work, experienced or not, who have not contacted Mr. Montgomery are urged to do so in his office, 107 Friendly, this week. Special ap pointments can be made.
