Study Improvement
Urged For Library
Mrs. Marian Watts, head of the
reference library, urged in an effort
to improve campus study conditions
that students using their own texts
and the books from the reserve
room confine their studies to the
sections beside and in the back of
the reserve desk, the general read
ing room on the second floor, or the
newspaper room in the basement.
Plans have been made to convert
the cafeteria of the housing pro
ject into a well lighted room where
it will be possible to study at night.
It has been suggested that the Uni
versity open some of the classrooms
on the' campus for night study, but
at present the students can relieve
the situation by sudying in their
living quarters, or using the above
mentioned rooms.

Disabled Students
To Get Assistance
Handicapped students who are
non-veterans may obtain education
al assistance through the vocation
al rehabilitation office, Lloyd J.
Eppenbaugh, director of the Eu
gene bureau, announced today.
The U. S. Employment service
has also been instructed to give
special consideration to handi
capped persons seeking work, said
Mrs. Lucille Parsons, campus
branch manager.
These statements of policy were
released in line with “Employ the
Handicapped” week, October 6 to
12.
Eppenbaugh explained that the
purpose of vocational rehabilita
tion is to train disabled persons in
some skill and asserted that tuition,
books and supplies, medical care,
and in some cases emergency main
tenance are available. He urged all
handicapped students to contact
his office.
Mrs. Parsons emphasized that at
tention devoted to securing em
ployment for handicapped persons
is not restricted to veterans alone.
She said that a partially disabled
student may be recommended for
light work, such as an office job,
depending upon the nature of each
case. In some instances there may
be no restriction upon the type of
work recommended.
The vocational rehabilitation
agency is located in room 307 of the
Miner building, downtown.
