Don Hunter Gains Audio-Visual Post Don L. Hunter of Eugene, former technician and assistant in the physics department of the Univer sity, is head of the newly formed audio-visual department of the li brary. Mr. Hunter earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical en gineering at the University of Ne braska, and since his discharge from the army last spring, has been working as electrical engineer with the Eugene Water Board. The audio-visual department has been formed to make available to students and faculty, films, film stripe, micro-films and slides. As soon as possible the films and ma terials will be catalogued in a card index to make them more easily ob tainable. The only animal life found in Great Salt Lake, Utah, is the larvae of certain flies and tiny brine ■shrimps. WANTED vet and wife to do housework for two, adults for room and hoard. ADS Invites Eligible Men for Membership Alpha Delta Sigma, national pro fessional advertising fraternity, has extended invitations to new men eligible for rushing and will meet at the Side 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to R. D. Millican, adviser to the group. Professor Millican added that of the ten members of the fraternity, all are ex-servicemen who returned to the campus after the war. Harris, former ly a chaplain in the navy and now director of religion for Westminster, is chairman of the discussion. Dur ing the period hot chocolate and rolls will be served. An open house honoring Dr. and Mrs. Harris will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. All students are invited to come and meet them. At 6 p.m. a social tea is sched uled. “What Makes a Christian” will be the topic for a panel discussion at 6:30 Sunday evening. Sue Ferni men will be chairman of the panel which consists of Oliver Larson, Clell Conrad, Hal Brevig, Lloyd Gil son and Bob Savin. Physics Prof to Talk On Galaxy Structure Dr. E. G. Ebbighaiisen, associate professor of physics, will speak at the first meeting of Sigma Xi, na tional science honorary, Monday at 8 pun. in Deady hall, Dr. L. W. Staples, secretary, announced yes terday. The lecture, “The Structure of Our Galaxy,” will follow a business meeting for members at 7:30 p,m. in room 105. The business meeting is for members only while the lecture is opeH to the public. Lutheran Association To Meet Sunday Night Sunday evening, October 6, from 5:30 to 7:30, the Lutheran Student association will hold its first meet ing of the year at the YWCA bun galow. The program has been planned to acquaint Lutheran students with the purposes of this organization. Refreshments will be served and all Lutheran students and their friends are invited to join in the planning, singing, and fellowship. Lightning has been known to strike the same building several times during an electrical storm. Graduate Assistant Appointed Instructor George D. Schade, former grad uate assistant in the department of Romance languages, has been ap pointed instructor in that depart ment, Dr. Roy P. Bowen, depart ment head, announced Friday. Mr. Schade was graduated from the University in 1945 and has since been working on his master’s de gree and serving in the graduate department. Club Schedules Outing The University Outing club will make its initial trip of the school year when a trip to Hendricks park gets underway Sunday. All girls interested are asked to meet in front of Gerlinger at 4 p.m., bring ing a sack lunch and 10 cents for popcorn and beverage. Siverson and Anna Raike Clarke have recently been appoint ed instructors in the division of speech and dramatic art, according to W. A. Dahlberg, head of the di vision. i Siverson comes from the Univer sity of Redlands, Cal., where he has been doing graduate work. He re ceived his bachelor of arts degree from St. Olaf’s college, Northfield, Minn., and served in the armed forces for two years during the war. Mrs. Clarke received her bacca laureate degree and master’s de gree from the State University of Iowa. She has taught at Stephens college, Columbia, Mo., and in the drama department at Iowa.
