    MB Ball Yields Mishap,
Mischief, Murder, Mice
By NANCY BEDINGFIELD
“Gay but painful” seems to describe the girl-dates-boy
Mortar Board Ball last Saturday night, as the girls literally
knocked themselves out to show the boys how a date should
really be engineered. Meanwhile, the boys did all in their power
to show the girls how helpless and nasty they could be. Bill
Deller floated down the SPE stairs to hand Joyce Gordon,
AD Pi, a shaving kit to pocket for
the evening. Pi Phi Jordis Benke
had a lovely dead mouse sent to
Hal Schick, Phi Delt, to make the
evening more memorable.
Kwama pledge Lynn Renick tried
to track down a horse and buggy
for the evening, but had to give
in and call for Vic Selman, Phi
Psi, in a jeep.
Fiji Calamity
’Tis rumored that the rain storm
saved many a boy from transpor
tation in wagons, scooters, and
wheel barrows. Two unknown
Fiji’s were said to have told their
dates to wait for five minutes while
they “powdered their noses,” only
to come downstairs a few minutes
later to find that their dates had
left and would call back in 45
minutes. Take that!
Dinner was served to Mortar
Board couples in every eating
place from the Bird to the El Capi
tan. Several DG-Chi Psi couples
went Chinese and ate chop suey at
the elite Willamette spot.
Jean Parker breezed into the
dance with a perfectly cha-awming
man (?). Such an attractive

couple. They must have drawn
straws to see which would wear
the pants . . .
Lovely Bob Moran and dashing
Gloria Montag were seen snitch
ing dynamite and slippers from the
“flower pots,” and Hal Dove looked
perfectly ravishing with the pink
garter (courtesy decorating com
mittee) draped casually around his
shoulders.
After the dance, with the rain at
its best, the transportation problem
became so critical that mob hys
teria set in, and seven Alpha Chi’s
and their dates ended up on one
car, four of them squashed into
the trunk.
DG Barbara Johns’ vehicle broke
down outside Mac court, so she and
a friend Barney “Ah’m Tired Out”
Franks made a mad dash for cover
through the rain and graveyard.
Through numerous requests a
mass apology is being extended to
all those fellows who were called
upon for financial support before
the ripping old affair was over.

For those summer classes be well
dressed in a new cotton frock that will
do the most to make you look studious,
but casual. Choose one of these if you
have a job all worked out to make a
little pin money.

You can't be comfortable unless
vour feet are that way. Select some

of your play clothes. Sandals, ballet
