Ticket in Class Elections
The six Independent candidates
\<p for class officer positions in
the ASUO election today are:
senior class Number 1 position,
Bill Setser; Number 2 position,
Jerry Mosby; junior class, Number
1 position, Cliff Brooks; Number 2
position, Joyce Niedermeyer; and
sophomore class, Number 1 posi
tion, Cliff James; Number 2 posi
tion, Colleen Mayiott.
Setser, senior class presidential
nominee, served as advertising
manager of the Emerald, and is a
member of Alpha Delta Sigma,
men’s advertising honorary. He
also worked on committees for the
all-campus dance sponsored by
ADS. A veteran, Setser played in a
campus band before the war.
Mosby Number Two
Running in the number two posi
tion for the senior class is Jerry
Mosby, past president and athletic
manager of Campbell club. Besides
playing varsity basketball, Mosby
has served on many campus com
mittees including Red Cross, World
Student Service Fund, and the
sophomore dance. Last summer he
was the representative for the Ore
gon Federation, • • j

Number 1 position in the junior
class, made his letter in the var
sity swimming team this year. A
Yeoman, Brooks has been secre
tary of the group for two years
and has participated in their intra
mural sports program. Brooks
promises that “the principles for
which students stand will be up
held despite party or person.”
In the number two position for
the junior class is Joyce Nieder
meyer, member of the WAA,
Orchesis, women’s dance honorary,
and Amphibian, women’s swim
ming honorary. Joyce, an art
major, has been chairman of sev
eral decorations committees in
cluding WAA carnival, March of
Dimes, and the Amphibian pageant.
She is an ISA senator, interdorm
council representative, and holds a
house office in Susan Campbell
hall. She has also been active in
intramural sports.
James for Sophomores
President of the inter-dorm
council, Cliff James is the Inde
pendent’s choice for the Number 1
position in the sophomore class. He
is also president of Sigma hall,
and recently played the lead role
in “Dear Brutus,” a University
production. James served a total
of 42 months overseas and was
awarded the Silver Star for gal
lantry in action in the Philippines.
In the Independent's Number 2
position for the sophomore class is
Colleen Mariott, present sopho
more class secretary and member
of the WAA. Colleen served as
social chairman of Orides and as
sisted the display committee for
the YW-YM international confer
ence during winter term. Other
committees on which she has been
active are Junior Weekend social
committee and ticket sales for the
forthcoming Mortar Board ball.
Colleen advocates cooperation be
tween the members of the class and
a continued feeling of good <vill
between the different factions.

Roberts, recently judged the out
standing junior man and awarded
the Koyl cup, has declared his plat
form as supporting (1) construc
tion of a student union building,
(2) comprehensive building and
housing program, (3) increased
salaries for faculty members, and
(4) equal faculty-student repre
sentation on all committees and
boards.
Number 2 Post
Marge Cowlin, Greek, and Ted
Hallock, Independent, will compete
for the Number 2 position of the
ASUO. Miss Cowlin, president of
the junior class and a Phi Theta
Upsilon, advocates promotion of
the student congress and active
support of her running partner,
Kay. Hallock, Emerald columnist
and former bombardier in the
army air corps, encourages a
breaking down of Greek-Indepen
dent feeling through “true repre
sentation.” He is also in favor of
inaugurating a series of programs,
to be paid for from contributions,
which would facilitate inexpensive
student social functions through
out the year.
Candidates for the offices of
senior representatives on the
executive council are Dave Fort
miller, Greek, and Nick Weddle,
Independent.
Dorothy Fowler, Independent,
and Pat Webber, Greek, have been
named junior candidates for posi
tions on the council, while Laura
Olson, Independent, and Don
Pinkerton, Greek, will run for the
sophomore position on the council.
Tom Hazzard, Greek, is the
single nominee for yell king.
Running for presidency of the
senior class are Jada Fancher,
Greek, and Bill Setser, Independent.
Charlotte Wicke, Greek, and Jerry
Mosby, Independent, will contend
for the Number 2 position.
Cliff Brooks, Independent, and
Bob Daggett, Greek, have been
named to compete for the presi
dency of the junior class, and their
running mates are Joyce Nieder
meyer, Independent, and Bobbie
Fulmer, Greek, competing for the
Number 2 position.
Sophomore class president com
petition is between Reed Grassle,
Greek, and Cliff James, Indepen
dent. Marge Weeks, Greek, and
Colleen Marriott, Independent,
have been named for the Number
2 spot.

Students wishing to take out-of
town guests to the Patrice Munsel
concert on June 14 should contact
the Eugene Civic Music associa
tion office and arrange for guest
privilege tickets, according to Dick
Williams, educational activities
manager. There will be a small
admission charge for these tickets.
Arrangements may be made by
phone by calling either 1868 or
3480. Williams urges that students
call several days before the con
cert to avoid last-minute rush.
This privilege is especially for
graduating seniors whose parents
will be on the campus at that time,
but is open to all students at the
University.

The professor is survived by
three children: Mrs. Catherine
Lindstrom of Eugene, Mrs. Olive
Young of Sandy, Ore., and Wilbur
G. Adams, U. S. navy; one sister,
Mrs. Cecelia Faley, Bend, Ore.,
and a brother, Ralph, of San Diego,
California.
