AWS to Install I Officers Tonight The annual installation of offi cers of the Associated Women Stu dents will be held tonight in the Bamboo room of the Eugene hotel. Following the installation, a dinner is planned. In addition to old and new offi cers, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Wickham and Dean and Mrs. Karl Onthank will attend the affair. Officers of AWS for the forth coming year include: Bea King, president; Dorothy Davis, vice president; Barbara Johns, secre tary; Mickey Metcalf, treasurer; Trudi Chernis, reporter; and Prudy McCroskey, sergeant-at-arms. Outgoing officers are: Signe .Eklund, president; Anita Young, vice-president; Bea King, secre tary; Barbara Pearson, treasurer; Barbara Johns, reporter; Mickey Metcalf, sergeant-at-arms. TEXAS Student-Ordered Books Available At Co-op Several hundred dollars worth of books are lying on the Co-op shelves waiting to be picked up by students who ordered them at the first of the term. They must be claimed by Friday, May 10, or they will go back in stock and be sold to anyone who wants them, ac cording to M. F. McClain, manager of the University Co op store. Those students who have paid deposits on books but have not claimed them will have their deposits returned. In many cases, said McClain, these are hard-to-get books, and it is not fair to keep them on the shelves any longer if people need them. Sick Bay List Two of Oregon’s top football men, Bill Abbey and Herbert Luck en tered the infirmary Tuesday night, suffering from accidents received on the field. Abbey was back to classes Wednesday, leaving Luck in for a few more days. Barbara Blinco, Jo Ann Whitson, Barbara Gilbert, Frances Budo, Bonita Miller, Charlotte Hughes. Verla George, Mary Chidlaw, Ed Burr, Aubrey Vanloo, Jim Koltz, and Herbert Luck, are now residing in the campus rest camp. Central theme of Halstead’s pro gram is a free verse poem, “Those Honored Dead” by Harold C. Algyer. The cast consists of: Doug Eden, Chris Strahan, B. G. Sim mons, Pat Heinricks, Ralph Teters, and Lorene Thompson. Elizabeth Nelson, mezzo-soprano accompanied, by Barbara Berry is singing on the classical portion from 4:30 to 4:45. Her program in cludes “Spring Song of the Robin” and “Woman from Shanewis” by Cadman, “The Tact Hour” by Kramer, “My Homeland” by Ed wards, “Evening” by Curran, and “Norman Cradle Song” by Reginald de Koven. Ted Loud is producer. Producer Paul Marcotte is featur ing Mary Hoch on the “Something for You” program from 4:45 to 5. Dorothy Shaer is accompanying her in “If You Are But A Dream,” “I’m Confessin’,” “My Bill,” and “Slowly.” Radio Programs To Be Presented American poetry read by Bob Kirkpatrick will be substituted for Dean Victor P. Morris’ “World in Review’’ at 4 -today on station KOAC in case Dr. Morris is not prepared to broadcast after his return from Chicago. From 4:15 to 4:30 Ailene Wandt, pianist from the music school, is playing “Venetienne” (Barcarolle) by Godard, “Clog Dance” by Han son, “The Island Spell” by Ireland, and “Golliwog’s Cake Walk” by Debussy. Phyllis Perkins, contralto, ac companied by Joanne Twedt, is singing from 4:30 to 4:45 p.m. Her program consists of “Ave Maria” by Schubert, “None But the Lonely Heart” by Tchaikovsky, “Kashmiri Song” by Woodforde-Find'en, “My Hero” by Strauss, and “The Man I Love” by Gershwin. Ox Wilson is the producer of the preceding por tion of the hour. Neighborhood news presented by the senior editing class from 4:45 to 5 p.m., is being produced by Shirley Peters. MILLS COLLEGE—Frank Sina tra was interviewed in the tiny of fice in the basement of their thea ter where he spoke of many things. He said that the responsibilities of students to their country today are to be unbiased and to know about their government, to see that the best people are elected, to live a good clean life, and to have fair ness toward and understanding of their fellow men.
