    Board Nominees Named;
Co-op Annual Report Read
•LNuminauons ior positions on the
student co-op board were received
at the board’s meeting Thursday.
One member will be elected from
the present freshman class to serve
one year and two will be elected
from the present sophomore class
to serve two years. Election will
be in conjunction with the regular
student body election to be held
later in the term.
Nominated for the one year term
were: Donald Dole, Fred Good
speed, Robert Ringo, and Lewis
Knight. Two students to serve two
years will be chosen from: Gloria
Grenfel, Bob Chapman, Pat Jordan,
Dan Deningo and Sylvia Mitchell.
The committee also heard the an
nual manager’s report read by
Marion F. McClain.

Professor Vincent
Visits Washington
Professor Andrew Vincent, draw
ing and painting instructor at the
University art school, was a speak
er at the Washington art associa
tion convention at Spokane Mon
day. He addressed a statewide
gathering of artists, art patrons,
and teachers.
Later the professor attended a
dinner gathering of former stu
dents who attended summer art
school at the University under the
sponsorship of the Carnegie schol
arship fund. He also visited the
art studios at Idaho university and
Washington State college. The
Idaho painting and drawing de
partment is headed by Mary Kirk
wood, formerly a student under
Professor Vincent in the Univer
sity art school.
Comedy to Be Shown
At Chapman Wednesday
“Gribouille,” a French movie,
will be shown at Chapman hall
Wednesday evening at 7:30
under the sponsorship of the
educational activities board.
A comedy of a soft-hearted
man and a charming girl, the
movie stars Raimu, one of the
foremost French comedians,
and Michele Morgan, now star
ring in American movies.

Robin A. Drews
Gets Scholarship
Robin A. Drews, class of '38. has
recently received a $1500 fellow
ship granted by the Chinese Cul
tural Scholarship committee. Only
five such scholarships were offer
ed. Drews, who graduated with
honors from the anthropology de
partment, is now studying in the
graduate school of the University
of Michigan in the department of
Oriental civilization.
While . studying at the Univer
sity, he transferred for some time
to the department of history to
study Far-Eastern civilization. Fol
lowing graduation he taught in
Peiping, China, returning to the
United States just before the war.
West Pacific
He served in the navy in the
western Pacific, during the war.
He was in the fleet bombarding
Guam when his orders came to i
transfer to the military govern
ment school at the University of
Virginia. After completing his
course there, he studied six months
at the military government school
at the University of Michigan.
Following -this, he was sent to
Manila to work with the army of
occupation. Because of change of
plans in the occupational govern-1
ment, he was not used in this
capacity, but was given other du
ties.
Island Life
While in the Gilbert islands,
Drews prepared four short articles
on different aspects of life in these
islands. These articles were later
published in the "American An
thropologist.”

University Drews served as re
search assistant to L. S. Cressman,
head of the anthropology depart
