La Fargue to Talk On India’s Affairs T. E. La Fargue, associate pro fessor of history, will speak before the first social meeting of the new ly-reactivated anthropology club when it meets on the sun porch of Gerlinger hall Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will discuss In dia and illustrate his lecture with colored slides which he made there. The next social meeting will be held the latter part of May. Ten tative plans are to have as speaker for this meeting Henry P. Hansen of the botany department of Ore gon State college, to discuss pollen analysis. New officers of the club are Rob ert Campbell, president; Mary Elizabeth Douglas, secretary; and Charles Reetz, treasurer. Faculty adviser is A. F. Whiting acting assistant professor of anthropol ogy. The purpose of the club is to provide entertainment and instruc tion for students interested in an thropology. There is no greater threat to the proper functioning of our two party system than this practice of Democrats and Republicans knock ing themselves out agreeing with each other. The good old-fashioned folks who talk politics around hot stoves and cracker barrels are looking' forward to the day when our major parties will again give expession to the issues which interest the American people.
