    Women’s Chorus
Schedules Concert
The University Vesper choir,
directed by Johnette King, junior
,n music, will present a spring
concert at Reedsport, Oregon,
April 30.
During Dad's Weekend, winter
term, the choir gave a spiritual
iervice honoring visiting dads. Mr.
Berge Borrevick, a member of the
Reedsport Lions club, attended the
campus services and "was highly
impressed by the voices of the
group. Following the program Mr.
Borrevick and the Reedsport Lions
club invited the choir to sing for
the Reedsport townspeople.
40 Members
Numbers to be sung by the forty
voice women’s choir will be from
the works of Franck, Schubert,
Tchaikousky, and a group of
negro spirituals taken from their
former vesper service.
Donald W. Allton, assistant pro
fessor of music and faculty ad
viser to the group, will accompany
the choir to Reedsport and play
•several organ selections.
Members of the choir will leave
■Eugene at 3 o’clock Tuesday after
noon by bus and return the same
•vening. While in Reedsport the
( hoir will be dinner guests of the
Lions club.
University Group
The choir is sponsored by the
Student Religious Council. It is a
voluntary audition student group
and directed by a University
-Indent.
Miss King, director of the choir,
is “happy to know that the Vesper
programs have pleased those who
nave attended," and wishes to an
nounce the spring term Vesper
services to be held in the music
auditorium May 5 and 26. Further
announcement will appear in the
Emerald.

The Women’s Choral club of
Eugene will present its spring con
cert at McArthur court at 8:15
April 30. The chorus of 74 voices
will be under the direction of Glenn
Griffith of the Eugene high school.
The club is featured semi
annually in a fall and a spring
concert. The guest artist will be
George Hopkins, assistant profes
sor of piano at the music school,
who will play selections from De
bussy, Chopin, and Elmerco. The
numbers will include the Popular
“Polanaise in A-Flat” and the
Golliwog’s “Cake Walk.”
Margery Scobert Wilson will ac
company the group. Featured con
tralto parts will be sung by Mar
guerite Saunders and the soprano
obbligato parts by Doris Siegen
thaler, Rea Rice, and Elizabeth
Walker.
The program will be varied, in
cluding the “United Nations
March” by Shostokovich, “Sere
nade” by schubert, and a popular
number, “Love Walked In” by
George Gershwin. Other familiar
numbers by well-known composers
will complete the program.
