House Librarians Choose President On the basis of her efforts win ter term to make the house li brarians a more successful orga nization, Dorothy Lee, freshman -4n liberal arts, was elected presi dent of the house librarians at a meeting of about 50 representa tives, members and outgoing offi cers Tuesday evening, Miss Ber nice Rise, circulation librarian an nounced today. Merz Elected Vice-President Other officers chosen were Bob Merz, vice-president; Patricia Maulding, secretary, and Norma Tarpola, treasurer and sales man ager. New business at this meeting included the proposal to continue the sales started last term for raising money for browsing room books. It was also decided that a dis play showing the creative purposes of Odeon should be arranged in the browsing room. The display will consist of creative arts such as lithographs, linoleum block prints, wood products, sculptured figures and decorative arts. Books will also be available on the writing of plays, poetry, and fiction. The house librarians also voted to help sponsor the student library contest with representatives act ing as hosts and hostesses while the books are on display in the browsing room Junior Weekend. Annua! Spring Concert Scheduled for April 25 The date of the annual spring band concert, original ly scheduled for Easter Sun day, has been changed to Thursday, April’ 25, according to John H. Stohn, who is in charge of the event. The reason for the change, Stehn stated, is the fear that the concert might conflict with Easter festivities. Race Hatred Topic Of Radio Program An “Open Letter on Race Hat red,” written by William Robeson, is to be presented by the University radio workshop over station KOAC from 4 to 4:30 today. “It is a drama based on race prejudice and especially the De troit race-riots,” Bob Kirkpatrick, producer, said. According to Kirkpatrick, the main characters are “Ox” Wilson, Barbara Hawkins, Lee Petrasek, Margaret Brooks, Stan Boquist, Paul Marcotte, Wilfred Roadman, and Lynn Renick. At 4:30 Roberta Quigley is pre senting Ailene Koch, vocalist from the music school, accompanied by Marie Peery, in a group of semi classical numbers. At the present time very few house themes have been turned in and it is requested that all house float representatives enter theirs as soon as possible to avoid dupli cation. The themes should tie in with the weekend theme of “State Fair.’’ The parade is slated to assemble at the Southern Pacific depot and will proceed up Willamette to 11th, down 11th to Alder, up Alder to 13th, and disbanding beyond John son hall where the judges stand will be located. Savinar believes there are many possibilitHs for a wide variety of originality and de sign. The dust on the canoe fete cups used in former years has also been blown away and this year they will be awarded to the two organi zations entering the best float. The history of the problem, costs of previous floods, and an outline of the proposed project will be pre sented. After the subject is pre sented a symposium of five stu dents will discuss the matter. Members of the cast are Jea nette Smith, Norma Aalvick, G. Duncan Wimpress, Ted Bush, Re becca Tarshis, Fred Beckwith, John Mathews, Betty Lou Siegman, and Leonard Turnbull. This is a weekly 15-minute pro gram by the senior editing stu dents. Last week they discussed the atom bomb. It is their purpose to present some timely world or local question each week.
