    Oregon Delegates
To Speak in South
Bob Calkins, senior in journa
lism, and Rex Gunn, freshman in
journalism, will leave the campus
Saturday with W. A. Dahlberg, di
rector of speech and dramatic arts,
to attend the Pacific Forensic
League at the College of Pacific,
in Stockton, California, April 15
to 17.
Cash Awards Promised
Gunn will represent the Univer
sity in oratory and discussion panel
and Calkins in extemporaneous
speaking and discussion panel.
Cups and cash awards will be
given the winners.
Dahlberg is the League presi
dent, representing 15 of the larger
colleges and universities in the
west. The League sponsors all
forms of speech activities such as
discussion sequences, oratorical
and extemporaneous speaking.
“It has been a long time since
the Univeristy has participated in
League activities. This will be a
revival of inter-collegiate activities
terminated because of the war,” the
director said.

Marriage Talk
For Women Set
“Preparation for Marriage,” a
talk by Father J. J. Evoy, has been
scheduled for 6:30 tonight at the
YMCA. This lecture is being spon
sored by the Newman club. Father
Evoy is temporarily stationed at
the Sacred Heart hospital in Eu
gene.
The 40 men and women students
at the regular weekly meeting of
the club Tuesday night heard the
second in the present series of
talks on “Preparation for Marri
age.” Father Evoy, at the request
of club members, will continue the
series with a similar discussion for
men only next Monday night.
All Catholic women and others
interested are urged to attend the
meeting tonight.
Dr.Wilgus to Give
Spanish Lecture
Dr. A. Curtis Wilgus, professor
of Hispanic-American culture at
George Washington university in
Washington, D. C., will be a guest
of the Spanish clyb today.
His talk, 4 p.m. at Westminster
house, will be presented in Span
ish, and will concern United States
foreign relations with Latin
America. An open discussion in
which students will participate
will follow the talk.

Portland Wednesday, April 17.
Also attending the meetings on
Wednesday and Thursday will be

and an associate in education in
the Univeristy. Dr. Wood and Dr.
F. G. Macomber, professor of edu
cation, will both attend a meeting
of the Oregon section of the North
west Curriculum society in Port
land on Friday and Saturday, April
19 and 20. .
