Campus to Aid In Relief Drive Children of France ^ Receive Contributinns A campus drive for the French relief of children will begin on a small scale tomorrow evening in Gerlinger hall at the meeting of the first year French club. Members, who have previously filled out a correspondence ques tionaire, hav agreed to contribute necessary articles towards the completion of separate boxes to be sent to Vence, France. The box es will be distributed among chil dren attending Centre Scholaire, an elementary school for children between the ages of eight and fif teen. Most of the children are orphans, and a great many of them are refu gees. Featured speaker of the meet ing tomorrow evening will be Dr. C. L. Even the piano man hates playing it. The tenor solo on Russ Morgan's (not a mis-print) “Good - nite Wherever You Are,” is terrific. A Portlandite, Don Brassfield, plays. Old record; a must. Classic remarques of all time: at the F. Glee, Saturday night lastly, a girl (from the outlying districts no doubt) strolls to the band stand, asks her male (they usually are) companion, "Shall-1 call him Jo seph or Ted,” which in itself isn’t much; follows this quote with, “Poor boy, what a horrible birth mark on his chin, I feel for him”; and this with, “I do hope that bass player learns to play with those thimbles on his fingers,” (Ed Johnson is wearing the time-hon ored bassist’s tape, for blisters). Bob Calkins has been playing drums with Widmer combo. Personalized P ublic Address Service HOUSE DANCES ASSEMBLIES INDOORS OR OUT G. H. The internal revenue bureau hopes to clarify the situation with the following facts: Enlisted men who have received no pay other than their service pay since 1941 have no return to file. However, if they have earned $500 or more from outside sources, they must fill out the required tax form. Men who paid income tax on service pay since 1941 should file for a refund. Commissioned and warrant of ficers, can deduct $1500 a year be ginning with 1943 from their gross income, as well as the $500 exemp tion they are allowed, making a total deduction of $2000. Discharged servicemen who are working and who have had income tax deductions made from wages should file for a refund if their wages do not total $500. The revenue office explained that all servicemen, whether dis charged or still in service, have until the fifteenth day of the sixth month after their return to the United States in which to file tax returns. \ DUCKTATION (Continued from page two) . . .
