Positions Open
-On Old Oregon
Announcement of new opportun
ities for student activity participa
tion on the staff of the new Old
Oregon magazine will be made the
first of next week, according to
George Luoma, editor-manager.
Fall term student activity parti
cipation showed an increase of
over 1,000 percent over fall term
of the year before. Most of the
fall term staff will return to posi
tions on the magazine staff, with
several new ones added from ap
plications that have been submit
ted.
Positions are open in news,
advertising, and office depart
ments of the magazine. All stu
dents are eligible to apply, and
selections are made on the basis
of interest, dependability, and
ability.
The personnel program of the
'“■’magazine includes a staff organi
zation that makes it possible for
staff members to be promoted
within the term. Certificates will
be issued for staff members who
render meritorious service, and
“O” pins are awarded to the most
outstanding staff members.
Old Oregon activity work is
ISA Senate to Meet
Candidates January 9
Candidates for ISA representa
tives on the executive council will
be introduced at an ISA senate
meeting at 7 p.m., January 9, in
105 Commerce.
The meeting is open to all inde
pendent students in order that
they may see and hear their candi
dates speak.
It will be necessary for all
groups to send senators or some
representatives to this meeting,
Catherine Crombie, senate presi
dent, said.
The election of the council repre
sentatives will take place in the
early part of the week of Janu
ary 14.
Mailing Service to Open
In Co-op Store Monday
The University mailing service,
locaed in the Co-op, will open on
Monday. Its hours are as follows:
Monday through Friday—10:30
1:30, 4:00-5:00 and Saturday—
8:00-10:00. The letters are col
lected from the mail box in the
Co-op at noon and 5 o’clock daily.

Marie Rogndahl
To Sing Saturday
Oregon’s Marie Rogndahl, hailed
as the “Undiscovered Voice of
America” when she won the Gen
eral Electric company’s contest in
which she competed with over
10,000 contestants, will sing over
the Columbia Broadcasting system
tomorrow, January 6.
Miss Rogndahl is currently
being starred by the National
Concert and Artists corporation
and appeared in a number of
events in New York during the
holidays.
She was recenlty featured in the
NCAC News, a release to radio
and concert program managers, as
a combination of beauty, brains
and talent. In this biographical
sketch of Miss Rogndahl, the
NCAC News also acknowledged
her foresight in returning to the
University to earn her degree and
receive additional training under
Sigurd Nilssen after her first
taste of fame and the 13 weeks
with the “Hour of Charm.”
Vocal Director to Talk
To Town, Campus Group
Glenn Griffith, vocal director for
the Eugene public school system,
will present a lecture, “Deepening
Religious Experience Through
Hymn Singing,” to the Christian
young people’s Town and Campus
group Sunday evening, January 6.
During the past eight years Mr.
Griffith has held a position with
the Eugene school system in the
capacity of a music instructor. He
has also taken an active part in
the Gleemen and is director of the
Women’s Choral club in Eugene.
A short devotional service will
precede the meeting which will be
held in the White Room of the
Christian church at 6:15. All stu
dents are cordially invited to
attend.
