This partial housing solution was decided upon a few weeks ago and workers have been busily remodeling the two places since then. Mrs. Genevieve Turnipseed, director of dormitories, stresses that housing students in these places is definitely a temporary measure to meet the present situation. GerKager’s third floor will ac commodate 40 girls. They will have a large sleeping and dressing room including individual lockers and chests of drawers. The girls will also be supplied with individual desks, in. a.-large study room on the same flaor hasving; a, fireplace and piano. Bathroom facilities and a place where the girls can wash their clothes will also be provided. Girls’ Facilities The men’s lounge on the first floor will be outfitted as a recep tion room. The girls will be organ ized as a separate living organiza tion with their housemother occupying the dean’s apartment in Gerlinger hall. No eating facilities can be pro vided at the present time so the students living in both Villard and Gerlinger may eat their meals wherever they wish, Mrs. Turnip I seed said. At present Villard hall is being prepared for men and will house approximately 80. It will be similar to Gerlinger in accommodations, having a large sleeping room with bunks and chests of drawers in the second floor auditorium of the hall. The men will have their lounge on the first floor, Mrs. Turnipseed said. The funiture is all new and the greatest efforts have been made to make these quarters as livable and comfortable as possible, Mrs. Turnipseed asserted. Applications for rooms will be handled through the dormitory office in John Straub hall.
