Casaba Hoop Stars Drill for Road Trip The Oregon, hoopsters are let ting little time slip by without using it to good advantage in preparation for the games Decem ber 3rd and 4th to be played here at McArthur court and the much talked about eastern trip opening December 12th in Chicago. As far as the eastern trip is con cerned, an unfortunate incident has occurred that makes part of the trip east by air an impossibil ity. Because the Army has prior ity on 70 percent of all plane EDDIE MILLED and His Orchestra HOMECOMING DANCE Sat., Dec. 1st at MacArthur Court ! Varsity Service Station Ph. 3541 706 13th & E travel, the team will be forced tc j travel part of the way by train. This too will mean that the boys leaving- on the trip will either miss some of their final exams or take them several days early due tc their date of debarkation from the campus being set for Decem ber 9th. Coach “Hobby” Hobson has been drilling the hoopsters in long hard scrimmages in order tc build up the defensive ability that proved such a lacking factor in the games played thus far against Vancouver B.C. and the Klamath Fall's Marines. This years Pacific Coast con ference should prove a close and hard fought affair and the Web foot Casaba varsity is none too confident that they will sweep the conference as they did last year even though they have the sup port of ten returning lettermen and valuable strength offered by many returning veterans. The teams being turned out by the Cougars and Huskies will be no push over and not forgetting age old rivals, the Oregon State Beavers, who always show up with a promising ball club, and' this year is no exception. Webfoot rooters will have plenty to' cheer about when it comes to the conference games because with as much strength and promise shown by the Duck hoopsters, they will prove a tough contender for the conference championship. No Tall Tale; The Oregon hoop squad has been warned to be prepared for prob ably the greatest basketball team in the West, the Marine Fliers from Camp Miramar, San Diego California. -The Fliers play the Webfoots December 4th in McArthur court. The team has a height average ol 6-foot-4 per man. For a height average, it may sound like a tall story, but its just a tall team That’s only the beginning, thej won 62 games out of 68 during the 1944-45 season. Winners of 27 straight games this year anc sporting a 54-point average pel game. Taller CAMPUS CALENDAR Saturday OSC Homecoming: game. Delta Gamma open house fol lowing the game.
