Cadets Retain
Top Grid Spot
First in war and first in peace,
that’s Army. For two years, the
Cadets have taken over the num
ber one spot in the nation, gained
by their excellent performance on
the football field, and it looks
likely they’ll still be there, when
the ’46 season of football begins.
Navy has taken the two spot,
this should make the Army-Navy
game one of the greatest in the
history of the annual affair.
Alabama, the team that has
come up the hard way, is now in
third place, pushing Indiana into
fourth.
Notre Dame, the team most j
spot. One below is Ohio State,
five position, running close compe
tition with Oklahoma A & M, who
had a good year and likes the six
spot. One below in Ohio State,
fighting for seventh.
Michigan is eighth and St.
Mary’s, ninth, while just plain old
Texas is tenth. St. Mary’s is the
only coast outfit to rank with the
big teams back east, although
UCLA is only one in back of Penn,
for leadership in the second ten.
