Des kins was transferred from fullback to right tackle after his debute in the Oregon-Oregon State game, where he proved his ability. Gene Gillis, Oregon left tackle, has played line from the first game and has been a main-stay throughout the season. Semi-finals Cross Coeds Net Tangles This week This week the semi-finals in the girls volleyball tournament are drawing to. a close and the top teams in each of the four leagues will be determined as finalists. All the teams are anxious to win in their league, thus resulting in some real, fast and hard fought games. Most of the teams have played their four games dui mere are a iew more 10 oe played and also several previously canceled games left to fill out this week’s schedule. The final con testants will clash sometime before Thanksgiving. Monday’s Finals In Monday’s games the Delta Gammas won a decisive victory over their opponents, the Orides, with a very one-sided score of 47 to 9, Hendricks Hall defeated Al pha Omicron Pi 42 to 29, and the Chi Omegas emerged victorious over the Gamma Phi Betas in one of those “too close for comfort” games 59-54. Chi O-Gamma Phi Game Exciting Perhaps the most interesting game from a spectator’s point of view was the Chio O, Gamma Phi game. At the half time, Chi Ome ga was a mere two points ahead and both teams, nervous and ex cited, tried to calm down. During the second half, the teams were tied time and again, neither able to take a sufficient lead so that the opposing side could not over take them. Finally, as the game neared the end, Chi Omega scored the winning five points, thus win ning the game. Foote Funeral (Continued from page one) He started his career at the Uni versity almost 18 years ago as a night watchman. Jumping from this position to that of building supervisor, he soon made himself invaluable to the students by help ing them build their stands and booths for the canoe fetes and many other social events. He was well-liked and admired for his friendliness and sense of humor, say his fellow workers at the physical piant office. A personal friend of General Douglas MacArthur, Maria Os mena is versed in the Japanese situation and the activities of the American allies, the Filipinos.
