Reynolds Play Clangs * * * <f <f 4* * * * * * <f * * *f * t By TOM RILEY Two upsets last Saturday marred the nation’s football stand ings and also figured in bringing the percentage of the “Dope Bucket” to a .900 average on guesses, by Tom. Webfoots by Hair to Bruins Although Oregon was the under dog at Los Angeles, the Uclans had their hands full in staging a 12-0 victory over the Oregon eleven. Oregon, “the every other week team,” can put a thorn in the Rose Bowl if they upset the 'Wghly rated Huskies next week at Portland. The Huskies know what impor tance a victory over Oregon means, but they should be a little more optimistic after UCLA tried and tried and tried again and again to score in the first half. The second half was so foggy we’re not sure just what happened, but the rumor says UCLA scored twice. i Bucket Trojans Never Rolled USC arrived in Seattle cold, and never warmed up. Even after the final score Saturday 13-7 in favor of the Huskies, the Trojans didn’t seem too unhappy knowing they were going back “south,” and not traveling north again this year. USC, when last seen was singing “Calif6mia, here I come.” Washington State, dropped Idaho 21-0, then boarded the train for home saying, “heck, we don’t play them again till next season.” V The California 19-6 victory over Nbvada, -had the referees busy at half time with pick and shovels digging up players that were buried in the first half. Reports say the field will be ready again Saturday, providing the blood stained field is well watered. The coast conference standing is now, let’s see, who is in the lead? Oh, yes, the coast conference is now in a mess! Back east, Purdue was upset by Northwestern 20-6, otherwise It was the same old thing. Army, Navy, Notre Dame won again. Way Down South Alabama, the University of Alabama’s choice for the Rose Bowl, were up to their old tricks again and beat Georgia 28-14, then said, “see you next year at Georgia,” unquote. I have a sure thing on the Ore gon-Washington tilt next week given me by a student of this school, so don't fail to read it. I could say Fleet City beat Fort Warren 20-9, and that the 4th Air F«ffe tied the 1st Air Force 6-6. Incidentally, Leicht played for the 2nd Air Force before entering Oregon. Those of you to whom I owe holds, who played an outstand ing game against the Bruins last Saturday, and will be con tributing factor against the Huskies.
