Ticket Notice
Tickets for the game will he
on sale this morning until 11:30
at the athletic ticket office in
Mae court. Anyone who does
not secure a ticket before going
to Corvallis will have to pay the
full admission price. Students
are also reminded to take their
student body cards with them
because Fercey Locey, athletic
manager at Oregon State, has
announced that unless student
body cards are presented at the
gate full admission price will be
charged.
Tea Canceled
The Alpha Xi Delta faculty tea
scheduled for Sunday afternoon
has been canceled until a later
at the Side at 10:45. Six busses
date because of a conflict with the
Zeta Tail Alpha tea.
Vandals Face Expulsion
Presidents Decide
To Recommend Rule
Edict to Be Effective Immediately
If State Education Board Approves
The presidents of the University of Oregon and Oregon State
college have agreed to recommend that any student who is ap
prehended in acts of vandalism on either campus should be ex
pelled from his respective institution of residence.
Dr. Harry K. Newburn, president of the University, says the
expulsion will be effective immediately, subject to the approval
of the state board of higher education.
The two presidents will recommend the action at the next
meeting of the state board, October 22 and 23.
Vandalism and School Spirit
In making the announcement, Dr. Newburn emphasized that
he hopes the students will recognize the difference between
school spirit and vandalism.
The Eugene city police are cooperating with the University
in patrolling the campus. They are being paid for their-service
by the University and have been instructed to apprehend any
students taking part in acts of vandalism.
Damage which already has been done at Oregon is being re
paired by University workmen. The cost of the repair work will
be billed to Oregon State college, Dr. Newburn said.
Student Body to Pay
Cost of repairing damage done to the OSC campus will be
paid bv the Associated Students of the University of Oregon.
The money will be taken from the ASUO donations fund.
Individuals who are picked up for committing acts of vandal
ism will be billed for the damage they have done.
Within the past week, raids have been made by the students
of each institution almost nightly. Oregon students burned a
large “U of O" into the turf of Bell stadium in Corvallis last Mon
night.
Acts of Desecration
In retaliation. Oregon State students attempted to burn the
letters "OSC" in Hayward field on Wednesday. Thursday night,

Dance Tonight;
Ducks Invited
When the dust has cleared away
from the annual Duck-Beaver pig
skin classic there will be a no-date
sport dance at the Memorial Union
ballroom on the Beaver campus,
it has been announced in the Octo
ber 9 Barometer. Dance time
begins at 8:30 p.m. and ends one
half hour before the stroke ofjnid
night. The climax to OSC Dad’s
day, the dance will feature a
Salem band.
Sport clothes will be the order
of the day, for both the game and
shuffle, announced Signe Eklund,
president of the AWS. Oregon
State women will wear low-heeled
shoes and campus clothes to the
game since the Duck visitors will
wear casual clothes. General ad
mission prices will apply to both
student bodies.
BUS TICKETS
Although all bus tickets for
today’s game have been sold,
students in need of a ride should
come to the College Side at
10:45 this morning. An effort
will be made to squeeze them
into one of the six busses char
tered for the trip, according to
Evans Sax, in charge of trans
portation.

Traditional rivalry will again be renewed lodav at 1 p. in.
when the Oregon Webfoots take the field against Coach Lon
Stiner's Orangemen in Corvallis. The Ducks will be pointing for
their second victory of the season, and the Beavers will be after
their first.
Sparked by quarterback Jake Leicht, the Ducks have been
given a slight edge. Although the Beavers have suffered one tie
and a set-back by Washington State, they will be gunning for the
Oregons in a “civil war classic,” that to date, has never been of
ficially settled.

Tugman New President
Of Allen Memorial Board
William H. Tugman, managing editor, Eugene Register
Guard, was elected president of the board of trustees of the
Eric W. Allen Memorial fund at the organizational meeting of
the group Friday afternoon in President Newburn’s office.
Other officers named included W. Verne McKinney, editor and
co-publisher, Hillsboro Argus, vice
president and Lawrence Spraker,
publisher, Stayton Mail, secretary
treasurer.
Carl C. Webb, assistant profes
sor of journalism and manager of
the Oregon Newspaper Publishers’
association, was appointed as as
sistant secretary-treasurer. An ex
ecutive committee, composed of
Tugman and George S. Turnbull,
acting dean, school of journalism,
was also selected.
By-laws of the organization
were adopted and preliminary
plans made by the trustees which
includes Tugman, McKinney,
Spraker, Turnbull, Dr. Harry K.
Newburn, Louise Montag and Tom
B. Purcell, publisher Gresham
Outlook, and president of the Ore
gon Newspaper Publishers associa
tion.
Established as a memorial to the
late Dean Eric W. Allen, founder
of the school of journalism, the
purpose of the fund is to advance
the science and art of journalism
in the state, to establish and pro
mote research projects in the field
of newspaper practice, and to as
sist in the promotion and advance
ment of education through the
school of journalism.
Dean Allen was born in Apple
ton, Wisconsin April 4, 1879 and
died in Eugene, March 5, 1944. He
received his AB degree from the
University of Wisconsin in 1901
and established the school of
journalism at the University of
Oregon in 1912. In 1906 he mar
ried Ida (Sally) Elliot, who pre
ceded him in death. Three sons,
John E., Robert K. and Eric W.
Jr., and one daughter, Elizabeth
(Mrs. Charles M. Gilbert), survive.
He was twice president, American
Association of Schools and De
partments of Journalism, and was
a member of Delta Upsilon and
Sigma Delta Chi, of which he was
national president in 1925. He was
author of “Printing for the Jour
nalist.”
