Girls Turn Out
For Volleyball
Wind, rain, snow or sleet could
not have stopped the feminine
fatales of the Oregon campus from
starting their first practice games
of the intramural volley ball tour
nament yesterday. It was a very
encouraging sight to see—girls
from the sororities, dorms, co-ops
turned cut in unsuspected num
bers and go marching into Ger
Iinger to warm up for the big
games.
Miss Catherine Jones, adviser
for WAA, who is in charge of the
volleyball tournament this year,
predicted that from the looks of
the turnout, the tournament will
ae both skillfully played and very
;xciting. She also stated that
those organizations who have not
signed up for the tournament as
pet, please do so as soon as pos
sible for the deadline of turning in
mtry blanks is October 15. The
first games are to be scheduled for
Dctober IS.
The tournament is to be organ
ized into five leagues, each league
slaying a round robin tournament,
rhe winners of tire various leagues
then will play each other to decide
ivho will be the victor. As yet no
schedule has been drawn up stat
ing which teams play each other
is all the entry blanks have not
been turned in. The schedule will
be posted after the 15th or sooner,
if possible.
Miss Jones also urges that the
girls who have net signed up for
practice do so at once.
