Total cost of the project will be about 550,000. The contract price is $34,000, and the cost of the util ities, machinery and installation makes up the rest. The building is paid for by direct appropriation frotfi the state board of higher education and is the first on the new building program recently approved in the special election. It will be a one-story building of reinforced concrete throughout with steel windows and insulated concrete roof and will be approxi mately 50 by 230 feet. It will house carpentry, plumbing, heat ing, electric and painting shops. Supervising engineer is Dr. Will V. Norris, acting head of the phys ics department, and Lawrence and Lawrence, Portland architectural firm designed the building. English Section Adds Two Men Two new instructors, F. Dean Moore of Portland and Vaughn S. Albertson, have been appointed to the University English department staff. On leave of absence from the staff is Dr. F. H. Trowbridge, associate professor of Euglish, who is in Chicago doing research work prior to taking over duties as visiting associate professor in the English department at the, University of Chicago. Mr. Moore, a 1921 graduate of the University, was a graduate as sitant in English here from 1940 to 1942, when he received his mas ter’s degree. Since that time he taught at Allan Preparatory school in Portland, Churchill coun ty high school at Fallon, Nevada, and Hillsboro high school. He taught at OSC from 1922 to 1925. Mr. Albertson received his hon orable discharge from the army air forces in January. He received his bachelor's degree at Rice In stitute, Houston, Texas, and his master’s degree at Columbia uni versity in 1930, and taught Eng lish at the University of Arkan sas and University of Texas.
