First, on behalf of the entire basketball team, 1 would like to thank the entire student body, in general, and the rail}' squad, in particular, for the great support we received this past season. An}' team’s success is directly propor tional to the support it receives. The varsity overseas wouldn’t be hitting that win column so regularly if it wasn’t for the home support. Native American Ballet Anticipated by Campus The San Francisco ballet to be presented Tuesday, April 10 in McArthur court offers to students the opportunity of seeing a performance considered one of the finest ballet groups in America. The group will give three ballets, "Swan Lake” and “Nutcracker Suite,” both by Tschaikowsky, and “In Old Vienna,” by Johann Strauss. _ Shackrats To Select Queen — A party styled after the nation ally-known radio show “Breakfast in Hollywood,” complete with an orchid for the queen and a cigar for the king, will be staged for ail present, past, and prospective Em erald workers Friday at 9 p.ru. in. the journalism building. Anyone on the campus, including faculty members who once worked on the Emerald, is invited to at tend; tickets are available for ten cents, to cover refreshment ex penses, at the Emerald news of fice. Shubert Fendricks, who is planning the party, is selling tick ets and they may also be bought from Anne Craven, editor; Anna mae Winship, business manager, or Marguerite Wittwer, managing editor. “Shackrats and their friends want to knock off this first week of school with a gala party,” Fen drick said. “This will be no or dinary party because we are get ting orchids, cigars, and song sheets air expressed from Holly wood especially for this event.” V Those attending the party will vote for a king and queen to reign over the merriment. William Christensen is artistic director. Reports from cities where the' ballet has performed indicate that it always wins appreciative re sponses from large audiences. The Omaha World Herald says “The costuming4, sets and colorful group ings, as well as the individual and ensemble dancing demonstrated why the San Francisco ballet has earned its excellent reputation.” No seats will be sold on the main floor, in order to giv eall members of the audience a good view of the dancing. All the audience will be seated on the west side of Mc Arthur court, the public in the west balcony and University stu dents on the bleachers. Arrangements for the presenta tion of the San Francisco ballet were made by the educational ac tivities board for members of the student body and members of the Eugene Civic Music association.
