Wilkins Top Scorer
As Hoop Race Opens
Scoring honors for this year’s preseason schedule go to rangy
Dick Wilkins, the 19-year-old ex-marine who scored 263 points
in 22 games. Wilkins and Captain Bob Hamilton were the two
big guns in the Webfoot attack. Hamilton trailed Wilkins by
one point with 262. Wilkins had an average of 12 markers a
game and Hamilton had 11.9 points average for each contest.
±ven ways, me b-ioor, i-mcn cen

two other regulars, Jim Bartelt
and Del Smith, each had 126.
Winners in 16 out of 22 presea

points for an average of 55.5 points
per game, as against 1016 points
and a 46.2 point average for the

The Ducks finished strongly and
ended their preseason games with
an overwhelming 64-41 victory over
the Tillamook naval air base last

Eight of the Duck wins were
over collegiate opposition. The only
teams to hand them setbacks were:

games at the start of the season;

who also won two; Vancouver jun

Warriors, who were led by Gail
Bishop, former all-American from
Washington State.
Experience and poise were
gained by the Webfeet during their
barnstorming trip to Canada and
the team tapered off their work
outs yesterday in preparation for
their- Northern division opener
-4k’t.h Idaho Friday. This is the
starting game of the dreaded In
land Empire trip which features
four games in five nights. The first
two are against Idaho and after a
day's rest two more with Wash
