Chemistry Instructors To Attend ACS Meeting Faculty members of the chem istry department will attend a meeting of the Oregon section of the American Chemistry society in Portland, Thursday, October 19. They will be addressed by Dr. Earl A. Evans, Jr., on the subject of "Carbon Dioxide Fixation in Ani mal Tissues.” Dr. Evans, who is professor and chairman of the department of bio chemistry at the University of Chicago, began his study of carbo hydrate metabolism while working in England .in the laboratory of Dr. Hans Krebs. Since then he has worked on various aspects of car bohydrate metabolism, particularly on carbon dioxide fixation by ani mal tissues, the effect of insulin, and the mechanism of carbohy drate oxidation. There are several hundred of them on hand including old mas terpieces, modern American, modern English, Mexican, and religious paintings. They are part of a collection started in 1929, some of which were purchased from art dealers in France and Italy.
