Relay Opener Parade Sparks Hayward Meet Parading with high school track teams at the start of the annual Hayward relays Saturday afternoon at Hayward field will be the University men students, faculty, and outsiders who act as officials for the event. These officials must be at McArthur court by 12:45 Saturday in order to don their white pants. Coach John A. Warren will be starter; Harry Hargreaves, referee; ueorge Wilson, neaa neia judge; W. R. Baker, announcer; and Rich ard K. Strite, scorer. The latter three men are assistant professors of physical education. At the close of the meet, atten tion will be on William L. “Bill” Hayward, track coach at the Uni versity', for he will present awards. Judges on duty for the finish will include Ross Carter, Anson B. Cor nell (athletic manager at McAr thur court), “Skeet” Manerud, Dr. Glenn Morgan, and Curtis Butter field. Most of the field judges are students, 'as follows: Lynnton El well, Marion Huff, Jerry Mosby, Nick Weddle, Nish Chapman, Mil ton Surface, Robert Gibson, Donald Ruecker, Gilbert Roberts, and Ir vin Schulz. Acting as timers will be Art Morris, P. O. Sigerseth, G. W. Tompkins, Dr. George Guldager, and Ruben Ross. Working with Coach Howard Hobson as clerks of the course will be three students: Evans Cantrell, Browning Allen, and Lewis Vogler. Students Rob ert Johnson, Robert Hamilton, Robert Mueller, and Edwin Allen are to be zone inspectors. On the officials list as block set ters are R. M. Paine, Allan Hag land, A1 Ford, Milton Sparks, and Dick Davis. Lowell Burr is a fin ish tender, while baton tenders are Russell Monahan, John Weisel, and Dick Reich. Michael M. Steddom is superintendent of the grounds. Compensation will be made to own ers of chapter house properties.
