Comedy Promised in Mexican Film “A combination of action, music, and comedy,” as announced by its sponsors, is “De New York a Hui panguillo,” recent Mexican film production slated for presentation at the Mayflower theater this af ternoon at 4. Tickets for the performance may be purchased at the Spanish de partment offices in Friendly hall, Mrs. Nichols announced, and .will also be on sale at the Mayflower this afternoon. USO Hostess Party Scheduled Today All USO hostesses, both town girls and those living in organized houses, who have been active in the local USO are invited to attend a get-together party tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the YWCA bungalow. Each girl should bring her dinner, except for coffee and cake, which will be furnished by the USO. Admission is one straight pin. Maud Brannely Holds Weekend Position Maude Brannely, junior in busi ness administration, has been ap pointed co-chairman of the printed programs for Junior Weekend. She will collect the times and places of all events for the weekend, May 5, 6, and 7, and prepare the pro gram as it will appear in the print ed program presented annually by the junior class. South Americans Feel Skeptical of US Policy Dr. Anibal Vargas-Baron, assist ant professor of Romance lan guages, spoke Monday morning to the senior class in Investigative Methods in Editing on the back ground of the relations between the United State and the republics of Central and South America. It was Dr. Vargas-Baron’s ex pressed opinion that economic con siderations lay at the root of inter national relations. He noted some skepticism south of the equator as to whether the Roosevelt “good neighbor’’ attitude is firmly grounded in the foreign policy of the United States. After receiving his Ph.D. degree at Princeton in 1911 he was a fac ulty member at the University of Illinois until he came to the Uni versity in 1926. He served nearly 10 years as dean of the college of arts and letters. For his active part in the upbuilding of the Uni versity in some of its most diffi cult times he was chosen as the first citizen of Eugene in 1939. The newly-appointed acting head of the English department has a nationwide reputation as a poet and has published much verse.
