Hellas, editied by Chrisholm, contains superior photographs by Baron Hoynington-Huene. Captain Harold Noble Returns to HO for Visit Marine Captain Harold J. No ble, who was assistant professor of history at the University before enlisting in the service in Decem ber, 1941, is visiting the campus after about a year overseas. Cap tain Noble arrived here Thursday to be with his wife and baby for a week. He is on sick leave after participating in action in the South Pacific. Before going overseas he spent some time teaching the Japanese language in the United States. Eight Houses Report Victory Dinner Yield Flight houses participated in vic tory dinners this week, according to Bea King, chairman of the vic tory dinners. The following houses all con tributed 100 per cent: Chi Omega, $10.30; Hilyard house, $5; Delta Gamma, $4.10; Alpha Chi Omega, $4.00; Highland house, $3.60; Pi Beta Phi, $10.50; and Alpha Xi Delta, $2.50. Alpha Delta Pi con tributed $2.50. Miss King announced that next term each house treasurer will be contacted each Tuesday evening for results of the drive. For the first time in the history of Colby, N. H., Junior college, students are being enrolled in nurs ing and pre-flight courses. Mexican Movie Set for Monday Starring' Jorge Negrete, popular Mexican singing star, the techni color film, “Asi Se Quiere en Ja lisco,'’ produced in Mexico, will be shown to students, faculty, and townspeople at the Mayflower theater Monday evening. Because of increased demand for tickets to the film and to cooper ate with the Eugene juvenile cur few ordinance the picture will be run twice instead of tire single showing previously announced. Hollis, acting president of the University, and' Staff Sergeant L. L. Pittenger, in charge of ma rine corps women’s reserve recruit ing in Eugene. Mr. Hollis, in his first public ad dress to the students, spoke on the present day coed and what a girl should gain from professional training. Objecting to the term “career” in the usual meaning of the word, Mr. Hollis listed other opportunities available to college women, among them the right to participate in the government of the country and to be a full fledged citizen in addition to, in the ma jority of cases, married life. In concluding his talk, Mr. Hol lis congratulated the coeds on their adjustment to war-college life, although he stated that no one in this country has been in convenienced to any great extent in comparison to other countries because of the war.
