Registration Dates Actual registration for classes will take place October 1 and 2 with classes beginning Monday, October 4. Of special importance to fresh men is the opportunity to talk with advisers who can give them aid in choosing courses helpful in preparing them to take the A-12 (Army) or V-12 (Navy) program tests which will he given on the campus early in November. These advisers will help the student to coordinate his course in his field of major study with those which will better prepare him for service in the armed forces. These V-programs are de signed to give men special train ing in the field of engineering, psychology, medicine, languages, supply corps, chaplain service, deck officer, aviation, or mer chant marine work. Shumaker Advises This new branch of the regu lar advisory service of the Uni versity is under the direction of Kenneth Shumaker, director of the lower division advisory group. He has not yet announced who these advisers will be, but every freshman is urged to see one of these advisers before the day of registration in order to give him self a better opportunity to par ticipate in the V programs. All students will confer with advisers assigned to them at registration,this being' in addition to the special advisory service in connection with military work. Info Furnished During freshman week, from September 29 to October 2, an information desk on the first floor of Johnson hall will be open to aid students who want any questions cleared up for them. Other special events of the week include open house at Wes ley house, Westminster house, and the YWCA; the AWS assem bly September 30 at 4 p.m. in the music building; and the YWCA breakfast for freshman girls Oc tober 3. October 10 lias been set as the final day for addition of new courses or new registration, and November 25 will mark the first vacation date, Thanksgiving.
