Heads up for the likeliest hab
itat in the dorm, co-op, or sor
ity. Naturally, you want your
room to “shew,” to be the chip
perest, brightest, most original,
economical example of interior
decoration the campus affords.
(See pg. 200 of latest Mamselle).
A likely prospect for any room
is a bulletin board, the place to
stick souvenirs, pictures, etc.,
especially since the scotch tape
shortage, and you know what
housemoms say about nails in the
Wall.
* Another clever idea of note
was the roomie who stuck a
child’s blackboard on the door
for “wake-me-at-seven” notiejes
and such.
No Excess
For the first term excess' fur
niture acquiring won’t be neces
sary. Necessities will be waste
baskets, lamp, bookends, and
perhaps a bookshelf if you can
wangle it. Roomie or big sis us
ually supplies the desk, couch
cover, cushions and drapes, al
though you’ll probably own them
later on.
Bookends may be anything
from flat-irons to wooden shoes,
£ although the first campus scrap
drive will undoubtedly find you
donating precious metal, and
wooden shoes . . . well. Lamp
shades have some garish decora
tions . . . witness one enthusias
tic frosh who joyously decorated
a white lamp-shade with kisses,
each in a different shade. Then
there are coffee pots, for exam
week, remembering that coffee,
bless it, is now unrationed. Use
that noggin, nuggin.
