Points in Hoop Rout
Oregon’s high-flying Ducklings had their wings clipped in
no uncertain terms and plummetted earthward for their first
loss in six starts as Oregon State’s crack Rook quintet laced out
with a one-sided 68 to 41 win in Corvallis last night.
Frankie Roelandt, Franklin prepper from Portland, put on
a one-man scoring act to single-handedly flip in 21 points and

Coach Earl Sandness’ yearlings
opened in fine fashion. They ran
up a 5 to 0 lead in the game’s ear
ly minutes, but soon fell behind
when Roelandt & Co. began to
crease the cords.
At the half time respite per
iod the Oregon State Beaver
lings had worked the count to
33 to 24 in their favor. The
second half was all OSC even
though Coach Luke Gill drain
ed the bench of substitutes.
One up on Oregon’s first year
men, the roaring Rooks will enter
Friday’s return “Little Civil War”
match at McArthur court as heavy
favorites to duplicate their con
quest.

Intramural handball starts
Monday, the intramural office
announced this week. Each house
will be allowed a four-man team,
two singles players and a doubles
combination.
Ping pong matches are to all
be completed by February 15 or
else a new schedule will have to
be drawn up.

Theta Chis Biff SAEs;
Canards. Betas Triumph

With the deafening roar of at
least 25 people, who packed court
40 in the men’s gym to the raf
ters, humming in their ears, mem
bers of Theta Chi “A” basketball
team turned on the steam in the
final quarter of an otherwise
tight ball game to snatch a hard
earned victory from the boys
from SAE.
For the first three quarters the
tide raged back and forth be
tween the two houses, both sink
ing almost impossible long shots
from far behind the key to stay
in reach of victory. The fourth
quarter found the teams dead
locked, both managing to get the
ball through the netted hoop for
17 points.
Then White, Wilson, and Potts
began swishing the net from ev
ery angle on the court. Before
the timer could get the gun shot
off to end the game, the Theta
Chis had scored 10 points while
the HAEs got a single digit, to
run off with the ball game, 27
to IS.

Canard Wins ''
A couple of clubs, Campbell
and Canard, clubbed it out yes
terday for “A” basketball su
premacy. Canard managed to
sink 21 points out of ’leventy
seven shots to trim a less fortu
nate Campbell club, who was
only able to put the ball in the
right spot for 15 points.
Any innocent victim who hap
pened to drop in to see the game,
left shaking his head and trying
to figure out how many balls
were being used. The air was
filled with the lone ball, and both
teams were using the “shoot on
