The cancellation of coach fares
will affect few students, as most
of the rush out of Eugene will
be over before that goes into ef
fect, but the return to school
comes right in the middle of the
cancellation time. A loss of five
per cent of a term’s work is due
for anyone who might think it
profitable to miss the rush and
return after January 5.
So, if you can find some way
to beat the transportation prob
lems during the holiday season,
don’t hesitate to let Joe East
man, national ODT director know
—you'll be acclaimed a hero! ....
The Southern Pacific company
announced Wednesday that the
coach fare cancellation applies
only to certain through trains.
All fares, both coach and Pull
man, however, must be reserved
after December 15, on other
trains. This may be done only
at the time a ticket is purchased.

The problem would involve dis
tribution of board income from
this source to the Emerald and
possibly to other educational ac
tivities.
No action was taken though
two possible substitute plans
were presented for placing some
form of circulation credit in the
Emerald budget.
