A iding finishing touches to the
mural he began last spring is Air.
David J. AIcCosh of the art and
architecture school, assistant pro
fessor of drawing and painting.
The mural, done by Air. Ale
Cosh. by commission of the fed
eral section of fine arts, will be
installed in the post office of
Beresford, South Dakota this
winter. The professor will super
vise the installation.
S-. bject matter of the mural is
a farm scene typical of the farms
in the Beresford district. The
painting is approximately S feet
by 20 feet.
As described by Air. Andrew
AT, Vincent, professor of drawing
and painting, the color tone of
the work is fairly high. He also
explained that color was em
ployed structurally as well as
dec* ratively by the artist and
that it was used in such a way as
to show the vigor of the scene
it portrayed.
This is the fourth mural that
Air McCosh has done. One is in
Kelso, Washington, and the other
two are in the building of the de
partment of the interior in Wash
ington, D. C.

.Tames C. Stovall, coordinator
of civilian pilot training', highly
reco mmends the glider corps to
college men interested in OPT
instruction. Men who complete
advanced glider training with the
air corps are assured a staff ser

“Giider training gives thorough
preparation for glider work and
also cor power plane service, and
it offers the most rapid advance
ment of any branch of the serv
ice,” reports Stovall.

Hazing Given
Wrong Twin
An attempted "freshman upris
ing” in Sherry Ross hall has died
away and again peace reigns su
preme.
Led by Gerald Unkeles, Port
land frosli, a group of freshmen
decided to even up the score after
being the subjects of upperclass
men's hazings. Each day two up
perclassmen were selected to be
dunked in the shower. After sev
eral such affairs word got
around that the Order of O would
take care of offenders.
An informal hacking session'
for the freshmen’s benefit fol
lowed. Only fly in the ointment •
was that the upperclassmen
found Gerald’s identical twin
brother, Harold, and gave him a
generous hacking instead.
Man Disrupts
Womens P E
Ignorance may be bliss, but
women in the 3 p.m. gym classes,
Thursday, felt that certainly was
no excuse when an unidentified
male burst into the dressing
room, took one look, and burst
back out again.
Confronting a bewildered by
stander with a wide-eyed stare,
and "Where in—Gerlinger—is the
dean’s office?” he disappeared in
the direction of University street.

Saturday all America cele
brates the only holiday F. D. R.
hasn't had time to change—Sa
die Hawkins day. This is the day
the girls are on the hunt, as they
are every day, this being the only
day, however, they get credit for
it. This is the day thousands join
the navy to have the girl they
just escaped from embroidered
on their chests.
Li'l Abner is hiding under a
giant oak tabulating his income
tax. Daisy Mae is still catching
cold in the same “off-the-bias-I

Not to Mention
This year the menace to her
perpetual objective is Unmention

Mammy Yokum is still exerting
the fraternity influence on Pappy
Yokum’s rural regions. Pre
sarved turnips are as yet not ra

Nothing has changed in Dog
patch.
Pool Quarters
Nothing has changed on the
campus, either. The boys still pool
quarters and take over the city
jail for the day, or build bonfires
of magenta ribbon bows and bob
bie pins to celebrate the occasion.
Sunday all will be normal
again. Unmentionable will be un
mentioned. Li'l Abner will finish
chapter six of his Sears Sloebuck
catalog for the 8 o’clock econ
class, and Daisy Mae will redot
her rotted (shrunk at least) swiss
for Tommy Dorsey.
