AX the completion of six months of active duty as an en listed man the bureau of naval personnel will request his com manding officer to state whether the candidate has demonstrated sufficient aptitude, ability, and officer-like qualities to merit his being recommended for transfer to an officer, or petty officer training class. If favorable rec ommendation is received he will be transferred to such a school: if unfavorable he will be re tained as an enlisted man until be may prove himself to be offi cer material. Class V-5 V-5 is designed to supply the navy with a steady flow of offi cer material for the air corps. Men are enlisted in this class and defeated until the end of the current college year. Candidates for enlistment must be male citizens of the United States. They must have been naturalized for mere than ten years except on recommendation of the senior member of the na val aviation cadet selection board. They must not be less than IS, not more than 27 years of age at the time of their enlistment. T ie period of active duty is four years, including the training period as aviation cadet, unless released sooner by the navy de partment. 'Men must be unmarried, and agree to remain unmarried until completion of flight training and acceptance cf commission as en sign U.S. naval reserve. Training of seamen, class V-7. is given in two sections. The first is a preliminary period of thirty days in which they are given an insight into life aboard ship, and instructions in the fundamentals of military discipline, naval cus toms and usage. If for any reason a cadet is not recommended for further train ing at the end of this period, he is discharged or if he so requests he is transferred to an enlisted status in another branch of the reserve for which ne is qualified. Midshipman C'lass At the completion of the in itial course, successful candidates are transferred to the midship man class and retained for three months further training. Satisfactory completion of the prescribed course of instruction will qualify the reserve midship man for a commission as ensign, L*. S. naval reserve. Thereafter, promotion will be in accordance with the regulations governing promotion of officers of his class. Eleven weekly programs are be ing broadcast over station WHA. Sherman, personnel of ficer of the Puget Sound Power and Light company, will be on the cam pus tomorrow to interview appli cants for employment with the company, either for present or summer employment. Interested students should be in the office of the University em ployment secretary, Janet Smith, Wednesday morning at 9:30 for interviews with Mr. Sherman. He is particularly interested in BA majors as most of the positions offered will be in the administra tion department. Miss Smith has a number of ap plication blanks available now which can be filled out in advance. Girls majoring in BA should also apply, as a number of women must be employed. Several former stu dents are already employed by the company. Music library at the University of Wisconsin contains more than 2500 volumes of a historical, bio graphical, critical or scientific nature, as well as several hun dred miniature scores. Nineteen graduates of Detroit high schools recently have been awarded board-of-education schol arships for one year of study at Wayne university. He and some of his teammates, notably Konopka and Malta thought that Saturday’s ball game, although hard-fought was a lot cleaner than the pre vious weekeend's contest with Stanford university. The Idaho gang was looking forward to their ball game with Montana next weekend.
