Nothing but grays, browns, beiges, and trite blues were hanging there. "No better time to go shopping!” I said to my roommate who for once agreed with me, and we were off to find a rainbow. By chance alone we stumbled onto the greatest single contri bution to fashion the world has ever known. The color alone, a warm, mmm, creme de cafe takes it out of this world, but the cut makes you realize that its cre ator was divinely inspired. The sleeves are wrist length and very, very tight; the V-shaped neckline tapers oh so gradually. Its fitted long torso stops where wide ties begin. These ties are draped at the front, and de signed to tie in back, giving an effect of the once-loved bustle. Add a narrow skirt and you have something there! That took my breath away so my roommate had to carry on. Diving into a new shipment of dresses, she emerged with a yel low ochre wool jersey that but toned all the way down the back. Three-quarter length sleeves that gathered at the elbow, plus a round neck and perfectly plain bodice were made to flaunt the clip of her choice. You know, it’s getting so that when you dress up, you either wear: 1—a clip, 2 -—an ornament in your hair, or plan on feeling very much out of place. Vogue says glitter, so you glitter. (I like my glitter in the form of a jet clip which dazzles at night, and keeps company with matching earrings). For luck, we each bought a pair of red shoes. She decided on flat ballet-laced onces of deep red, and I chose low sandals whose thin strap buckled a little above my ankle (open-toed, of course). A little green perhaps? No longer blue, but in the pink, —Gerry Stowell. A^WS jV&ie d AT LAST! Hallelujah! Amen! No longer is the Coed Capers a titleless orphan. For the past week AWS prexy, Marge Dibble, has been desper ate 1 y, frantically, feverishly combing ye campii for a slogan for the Capers, scheduled for November 12. Calling on the Thetas for help, Dib, with a hor rible gleam in her eye, offered to the brain submitting the best slogan two packages of cigar ettes, and to the non-smokers the equivalent price. . . . “Pewee” Ross, with her hair frantically on end, finger-nails gnawed to the elbow, an^Dthree bags under each eye, was no less perturbed. Monday, she was stopping all sympathetic-looking individuals and meekly screaming, “Pardon me, but do you have an idea for Coed Capers? . . . FINALLY, at 10:35 p.m., after a terrific burn ing-up of telephone wires, the slogan, “The Swing Shifts to Women,” was chosen out of a maze of “Wayne’s War Widow Wides Again,” “Sacks in the WAACS,” “Powder Puff Bri gade,” “Pranks in the Ranks,” and “A(ll) (W)omen) O(n) L(oose) Capers.” . . . Plugs are in order for Mary Louise Vincent and Sue Sawyer, mistresses cf ceremonies, who are devouring all mags and ra dio programs for big ideas to get their 'script into shape. . . .
