Murray McPhail, of Seattle, province president of Delta Gamma, arrived in Eugene on Wednesday for an indefinite visit with the local chapter. Members and aluumnae have arranged a dinner in Mrs. Me Phail’a honor for Thursday eve ning and the freshmen plan to take the province president to dinner Friday night. Gasoline Ration Cards Issued November 9 Tee Baruch recommendation of nationwide gasoline rationing will go into effect with the reg istration for gasoline ration cards on November 9. the office of price administration announced Tuesday. Car owners will be allowed four gallons weekly on an ‘'A" card (non-essential driving) provided these two provisions are met: t. Owner must swear he has Ho more than five tires. Any tires in excess of five may be sold to the government. 2 He must agree to periodic inspection of his tires as soon as arrangements can be made. Application blanks will be available beginning October 27 at gas stations and other public places. On November 9 these blanks, properly filled out. may be taken to local schools, where rationing officials will issue "A” cards. Those needing additional mo tor fuel for essential purposes may apply for supplemental ra tions after receiving the “A" book. It was pointed out that the periodic tire inspection would be the basis upon which essential civilian needs for new tires wll be determned. Stevensonia Given To Campus Library Eighty-nine volumes of Steven sonia from the library of the late Charles Basey were donated to the library recently by Miss Mabel Dodson, Head Librarian Willis Warren announced Tues day. The collection also includes 21 pictures, and will be housed in the general library stacks with the books from the library of Captain James Dodson Basey, father of Charles Basey. Westminster House Plans Drama Class The first Westminster dramat ics class of the season will meet at Westminster house today at 4. The group offers opportunity for experience, as shown by the more than 25 performances given last year to granges, PTAs and churches. The first play cf the 1942-1943 season, the title of which is un disclosed as yet, will be presented at the Central Presbyterian church in early November. Alclen, director of city playgrounds and recrea tion. Classes will begin at 7:30 and will be held every Tuesday eve ning for nine weeks. An enroll ment of 50 in the first class must be met in older to cover expenses, Miss Alden said. Swimming, dancing, body building, and games will be of fered. All equipment is fur nished except for badminton equipment and. swimming cap3, and shoes. Classes will meet in the women’s gymnasium.
