Background Adding much to the presenta tion was the musical background furnished by a piano, harp, flute, and drums played by Mrs. Kay Holman, Lynn Alexander, Char lotte Allen, and Tom Hardy. Much of the music was composed especially for the dances by Mrs. Holman. Direction of the impressive program was done by Mrs. Pirk ko Roecker, instructor in physical education who has spent much time working with the group dur ing the past school year as they have developed the program giv en last night and tonight. The stage settings and lights which did much to add to the re cital was arranged by Barbara Scott and her assistants Marial Patterson, Drusilla Johnson, and Tom Hardy. All the costumes for the vari ous American scenes were ar ranged for by Merlin Dow while programs were taken care of by Robert Forsyth. Helen Dances Too No one knows how many miles Helen Holden has danced since rehearsals for “Of Thee I Sing’’ began last month, but probably the total would be im pressive. As dance director for the pro duction, she has created the choreography for all dance rou tines, has coached the more than fifty dancers, and perfected two solo dances of her own. Small and dark, Helen thinks the hardest part of her job is “getting the kids together. I guess I picked the fifty busiest people on the campus.” Veteran “I've been teaching about four years, mostly children, but this is my first big job. And it’s real ly big. I danced ten hours at last night’s rehearsal,” she said. “I do stand a lot just directing, too, but I never get tired until about one o’clock in the morning —and then I really find out.” President of Hendricks hall and a Phi Theta, Helen has been a drama minor on the campus and danced in last year's canoe fete. “Oh,” she added, “another thing that is difficult is the slip pery stage. Those planks will have to be rosined because the girls will be wearing taps and high heels.” Duo With Dickson “That duo with Ray Dickson is lots of fun; we dance about eight to the measure without music. He’s a marvelous dancer to work with,” she continued. ‘One of my costumes comes from Philadelphia, and it’s made of silver cloth,” she explained a little nervously. “And another thing I'm worried about is get ting the girls in the military drill onto the steps. You see, there are twenty steps, and the work shop hasn’t put them up yet for us to practice on. Maybe I’d oet ter find out . . .” Mom’s Directors As a part of Mothers’ Weekend there will be a directors’ meeting of the Oregon Mothers today from 1:30 to 3:30 in Gerlinger hall. Mrs. A. E.
