MatrixTable Tonight Victoria Case Guest Speaker Outstanding' women from all over the state will be guests of Theta Sigma Phi, national wo men's journalism honorary, to -rfght at the formal Matrix ta ble banquet, honoring distin guished women in arts, literature, and music. Guest speaker for the affair, at which 100 guests are expected, will be Miss Victoria. Case, Oregon author and news paper woman. Early this week Pat Parker, Theta Sig president, announced that the three undergraduate girls who will be awarded the ti tle of "most outstanding” in their class, would be Misses Joanne Nichols, Betty Ann Stevens, and Joanne Dolph. These girls, select ed by Theta Sig, have done par ticularly worthy work in the field » of journalism. Included on the list of accept ances from Oregon women is Mrs. Antonina Riasanovsky, of Eugene, who has gained wide spread popularity through her prize-winning book, "The Fam ily.” Several Oregon writers, fac ulty wives, members of Pot and Quill, Eugene club women and outstanding junior and senior girls from the University have received invitations. Margaret Zimmerman will sing and Miss Elizabeth Walker will play a violin solo as part of the entertainment. ^ Introducing the speaker will be Mrs. Eric (Sally) Allen, ad viser to Theta Sigma Phi. Miss Case, who is a University of Ore gon graduate as well as a Theta Sig alum, has recently published articles in the Readers Digest and the Saturday Evening Post. She is the sister of Robert Or mond Case, also a prominent au thor and Oregon graduate. The ^dinner, which will be held at the Osburn hotel, is scheduled to begin at 6:30 o'clock. The faculty of Kent State uni 5^rsity recently voted almost unanimously to adopt the quar ter system beginning this fall. 31 jbanced.. . . Friday, with thirteen dances, has the slight majority on the schedule. Tonight Matrix table is honoring important women on the cam pus ■with an annual formal dinner at the Osburn. The all co-op formal “Maytime” will feature a Corvallis band, the Jlait Wand By MARGE CURTIS No less than 18 house dances, both formal and informal, are scheduled for this weekend, mak ing it one of the busiest Webfeet have seen for a long time. New est in formal attire are the two piece bright cotton prints with bare midriff to show off your tan. On the informal side, there are dresses in luscious pastel shades or large floral patterns. And col ored shoes are definitely "in.” Calling all Kwamas! This year’s sophomore group is giving a pic nic Saturday for all former mem bers. Wear your old clothes, they say, and that means anything from slacks and shirts to your big brother’s high school letter man sweater. (If the weather is cold enough.) Short silks and heel's will be worn to the annual YWCA Jun ior-Senior breakfast at the Os born hotel Sunday, but hats are unnecessary, Carolyn Holmes, campus social chairman, says. Junior Weekend isn’t far off and that event calls for formals, campus clothes, and dressy silks, so be prepared as far as your wardrobe is concerned. Walt Weber, another group from over State way is playing for the Sigma Al pha Epsilon formal. The Quintet from Hunger is playing for the Susan formal. Theta Chi's formal theme is Colonial Gardens. Chi Omegas will dance to the music of Ted Hallock. Kappa Kappa Gamma dance completes the for mal list. Orides-Yeomen radio dance will be in the master dance room of Gerlinger. Other informal danc es include dinner dances at Alpha Phi and Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Upsilon’s Beachcomber's ball, and Sigma Phi Epsilon with Hal Har din’s orchestra. Verne Minkler will keep Phi Delt drums rolling for their Indian dance. Others Art Holman is playing for the Alpha Tau Omega dinner dance at the Eugene, Saturday evening. Beta Theta Pi is having Walt Weber for their Maritime formal. Chi Psis will dance to the music of Hershel Davis in a West Point atmosphere. Quintet from Hun ger is booked for Alpha. Gamma Delta’s formal. Sigma Chi’s maes tro is Ted Hallock. Informal dances are Campbell Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta, and club, Delta Tau Delta, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Gamma Phi Beta dinner dance.
