    Concert and Tea Dancing
Fill Weekend Date Books

From the Ftiday night concert of lyric Grace Moore to Sunday
afternoon tea dancing to the sweet swing of Ted Fiorito at the Park
coeds have filled their date books for the last weekend before the
rush of house dances begins. •
After-the-coneert-entertaining is planned by Sigma Chi, Beta
Theta Pi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Phi Sigma Kappa.

fireside Saturday evening at the
White House. Campbell club will
elite, tain at a fireside Saturday
evening at 8 o'clock. Shows and
dances will fill the evening for
the rest of the campus. -

engagement announcement at
Kappa Alpha Theta, Miss Flor
ence Gordon announced her en
gagement to Lt. Charles N. Tripp,
Jr., class of ’40, at the Theta
house Tuesday evening.
The wedding will be solem
nized this evening at the First
Congregational church at 6:30
o’clock, with Rev. Williston Wirt
officiating. Miss Pauline Gordon,
the bride-elect’s sister, will be
maid-of-honor.

Social events for the University
women’s faculty club were
brought into prominence Wed
nesday when new women teach
ers and wives of faculty mem
bers were greeted at a tea in
Gerlinger hall. Newcomers of
last year and this year will meet
each other again next Monday
when the board serves tea at the
home of Mrs. Donald M. Erb.
Also scheduled is a no-host
luncheon for next Wednesday
noon. The University board will
entertain the members of the
Corvallis board.
Concordia college, Moorhead,
Minn., has a 60-voice a cappella
choir.

The engagement of Miss Max
ine Mann and Frank Larsell, both
of Portland, was announced re
cently. Mr. Larsell was graduate
assistant in English last year. No
date has been set for the wed

Detling Obtains Herbs
Dr. Leroy E. Detling, assistant
professor of botany and curator
for the herbarium in Condon hall,
made numerous trips into the
Cascade mountains and into
southeastern Oregon during the
summer, to collect specimens for
the herbarium.
