Lyle Nelson to Edit Alumni Magazine Lyle Nelson, editor of the Ore gon Daily Emerald last year, was appointed editor of “Old Oregon,” alumni magazine, to replace Roy Vernstrom, who is now doing public relations work for the U. S. marine corps. Nelson, who has had four years’ experience on the Emerald, was employed by the Oregon Daily Journal this summer. The first issue to be published under his editorship came out early in Sep tember. On October 2 Nelson will mar ry Miss Corinne Wignes, junior in journalism, who was alumni of fice secretary this summer. Miss Wignes will continue her work at the University this fall. She is president of Orides, independ ent women’s group. NYA's Allotment Cub Graduate Jobs Open The NYA grant for the present year will be $32,670, 25 per cent less than last year. However, there are less applications as yet for NYA positions. Very few applications have been received for graduate posi tions which carry a higher rate of pay. If the quota for graduate positions is not filled the sum re maining will be added to the undergraduate quota. Graduate students and others desiring NYA positions should apply at the NYA office in the lower floor of Johnson hall. Hockett of Enterprise, and a graduate of the University of Oregon Medical school has been named national chairman of the Civilian Medical Defense committee of the Amer ican Medical association.
