made down payments on theii

paid the balance were urged tc

cational activities officials, be
cause a tax of 10 per cent of the
unpaid balance will have to be
added after that date. This is ir
accordance with new government
tax laws which go into effect or
that date, they said.
Second attraction of the series
will be Violinist Yehudi Menuhin
who comes to the campus De
cember 1. Menuhin, because of his
superb violin playing, is knowr
as the “prodigy of yesterday
genius of today, immortal of to
morrow.”

uary 7, 1942, by Josef Hofmann
pianist, who has been broughl
again to Oregon by popular de
mand. *
The Seattle symphony orches
tra, conducted by Sir Thomas
Beecham, will appear here Feb
ruary 23 as part of his first pro
fessional tour of the Unitec
States.
Returning to Eugene after e
successful program here a few
years ago is Nino Martini, star o1
concert and opera, who will ap
pear April 8, 1942. The hand
some tenor will be the last of the
group to appear here.

adoption of a constitution they
will meet to select by-laws and
nominate officers. ‘‘We hope to
have the whole thing over with
in two weeks,” Torgeson said.
It was the frosh class last year
that lit the powder keg of class
cards, when, in their first meet
ing, a large bloc raised loud ob
jections to a constitutional
amendment proposed to the so
called “model constitution” that
would make! class cards compul
sory for class membership.
After a fall term of bickering,
this bloc broke away from the
old organization to establish the
“majority class of 1944,” under
freshman politician Chuck Wood
ruff. ,
Plans are being made this
year, said Torgeson, to prevent
any split in the 1945 group, which
might make both factions weak
and ineffectual.
