CIRCUIT RIDER VIA FORD • • • Cavanagh Polishes Lamp of Learning “Armed with a tattered tooth brush, two reels of elegant colored films of the University and all the facts head and brief case will hold I’m starting on my tour of the state Thursday, June 26th,” wrote John Cav anagh, Federation director, to ,> compatriots all over the state when he started on a 7500 mile tour of Oregon this summer. While conducting meetings in approximately 60 communities, Cavanagh visited undergraduates and alumni, and answered ques tions of prospective students, finally ending up in Portland to help make plans for the annual Jantzen Beach rally. First Lap Hood River and The Dalles were first on the Federation director’s itinerary, and then a short trip to Portland finished the first week. From the city of roses he traveled to Hillsboro ^ and Astoria. Tillamook came next with an inland trip to McMinn ville, then back to Eugene to catch up on correspondence. After an evening program in Cottage Grove, Cavanagh headed for Roseburg and points along the coast. He was met in Marsh field by John Busterud who mus tered out an exceptionally large number of people for the evening meeting. At Medford, “The Brakeless Wonder,” his aged and ailing car, managed to stop in time for another evening meet ing. Co-chairmen Elsie Brownell and Jim Lium were on hand with ^ a large representation in Grants Pass and, after a brief stop in Ashland, Cavanagh and car sput tered over to Klamath Falls where chairman Jim Burness helped him through a crowded program including two service club appearances, a radio broad cast, and an evening meeting. Morris announced this week. Replacing Dr. A. G. Dudley, who will study this year at Stan ford, is Dr. Wesley C. Ballaine, a graduate of the University of Washington. He received his doctor of philosophy degree from the University, of Chicago and has taught at Lawerence college in Wisconsin and the University of Illinois. Two other additions are Ed ward G. Daniel, former Uni versity of Oregon student who receives his doctor’s degree from Harvard this fall, and Lloyd Foust, who has studied at the University of Oregon, George Washington University, and Stanford.
