| Coronation of Queen I Starts Weekend Fun At Campus Luncheon Serving, Tapping of Pledges for Friars, Mortar Board, Asklepiads on Program; , - Musical Numbers Also Scheduled i ; - - A prayer on their lips for sunshine today, Junior Weekend heads yesterday announced completion of plans for an outside luncheon starting at 12 noon. The first big act on a full weekend calendar, the luncheon will see coronation of Queen Annabelle Dow in open-air ceremonies—providing there is no downpour. In case of last-minute rain, complete setting will shift to the Igloo, Bette Mor fitt, chairman announced. Serving and tapping of pledges , for Asklepiads, Mortar Board, and Friars will last from 12 to 1 Tickets to the campus luncheon will be on sale at Booths today for 25 cents. Mothers may also obtain them when they register in Johnson hall. p.m. Promptly at 1 p.m. a pro gram of entertainment will spread among campus dancers. A horseback procession of Scabbard and Blade men will bring Queen Annabelle to her cor onation throne. These men will be in full military dress and wear white turbans. Prime Minister Cullen Murphy and Master of Ceremonies Jim Davidson will also symbolize the Oriental scene with the turbans. Fred Beardsley’s orchestra, a solo by Les Ready with accom paniment by Phyllis Gray, and a brief talk by Dr. Donald M. Erb will provide a full program of entertainment. “Instead of ‘Pomp and Cir cumstance’ which is generally used for the coronation march, this year’s luncheon will feature a 40-person chorus from the Uni versity high school,” Miss Morfitt revealed. “These students will sing the princess theme from “The Persian Market.” BLOSSOMING OUT for MOTHER’S DAY? The pleated skirt and bolero, trimmed with ribbon, will make you look inches slim mer and inches taller, and will give you that feeling of summer freshness. 1004 Willamette St Phone 633 Arabian Mood To Rule Tonight At Junior Prom Picked Junior Duo To Receive KoyL Gerlinger Awards Arabian Nights will transform McArthur court into a realm of wonderland at 9 o’clock tonight. From the opening waltz, dedi cated to Queen Annabelle Dow and her court of four, the no madic atmosphere of Junior Weekend will turn to the Igloo for the Junior prom. Art Holman, campus band lead er, will direct his orchestra atop a revolving bandstand. Decora tions will be reminiscent of the Far East and the genii of Alad In semi-formal attire students will come to the dance and to see the presentation of the Koyl and Gerlinger cups to the most outstanding junior man and wo man of the year. Declaring everything “ready to go,” Jack Saltzman, prom chair man, announced that final touch es will be put on the profession ally decorated ballroom this aft ernoon. A special section has been set aside for Moms and patrons, according to Betty Jo Shown, chairman of the official welcom ing committee. Moms will be admitted free of charge to the prom. Assisting Miss Shown are Bet ty McNiece, Jo Bullis, Betty Anderson, Connie Walbridge, Madeline Chin, Gloria Difford, Pat Longfellow, Isolde Eichen laub, and Eleanor Sederstrom. Open House for Mothers to Be Held To accommodate mothers and visitors, Westminster house will hold open house all Satmday afternoon. Tea will be served. Sunday morning at 9:45 a mu sical program has been planned for students, their mothers, and sisters. Mrs. E. E. DeCou will speak at this time.
